Basically, there's this whole 'pay to get next-gen upgrades'. If you don't pay, you will be able to play PS4 games on PS5, but it will run like their PS4 or PS4 Pro versions (if the game has received a patch). Again, I'm just assuming here, because Sony have been anything but clear. So, unless a developer/publisher puts in the work to make it a next-gen upgrade, I don't think anyone should expect the following for any backward compatible games: - native resolution upscaling - load-time improvements - increased frame-rate options The game will work on the PS5 (going by the "99% of games work" statement by Jim Ryan), but... ??♂️??♂️??♂️ Good job, Sony. Not. Edit: I must emphasise on the option developers/publishers have for this. For example, Dirt 5, Cyberpunk 2077, HITMAN 3, etc. will get next-gen upgrades' for free. But guess which game might not - Marvel's Spider-Man. Yeah, I'm pissed. This is a Activision/EA-level move by Sony.
