hsk_colossus
https://techraptor.net/gaming/news/salt-and-sacrifice-price-changes-after-launch-for-different-regions The worldwide Salt and Sacrifice price has seen a significant increase in some countries following its official release on the Epic Game Store (EGS) and PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles. According to Ska Studios, this is because of Sony saw that the prices on the EGS were "much lower than Sony", and they thus forced to match the game's prices on all platforms. This is both good and bad news for different countries, because for places like Brazil have seen a 276% price increase from R$37.99 to R$104.90 .

Didn't thought this would be even possible on third party titles.

What the title says: According to Ska Studios, this is because of Sony saw that the prices on the EGS were "much lower than Sony", and they thus forced to match the game's prices on all platforms. What they don’t tell you : That's pretty systematic, and Shane Lynch, the co-owner of Ska Studios, explains he "can't actually control individual prices on Sony, so some of it had to go up or down" due to agreements made with the platform holders. What it means that they signed a contract with Sony to have price parity across platforms and the devs (not Sony ) had to increase prices across other platforms to match the price on PSN

l33tmaniac
So Sony is forcing publishers to price the games on different platforms to be the same as that of PSN. What a dick move. Basically this is armtwisting at some level.

Not a good look for Sony whichever way you put it.

CarbonCore
It would've been less than 500rs like the first game, but now its 1300+. Thanks Sony.
AnK
I think the biggest problem is not having regional pricing locked down via strict IP blocks even till this day. Most of the ppl make accounts from the cheapest region in all gaming storefronts. Now unsuccessful & new fronts like Xbox & EGS are just willing to do anything to have an audience but the successful ones like Playstation,Nintendo & Steam usually want to have good revenue. Playstation & Nintendo have piss poor regional pricing for this very reason. They (specially PS as it’s a direct competitor to PC)need regional pricing & very strict IP checks like Netflix & Amazon so that OOR accounts are next to impossible. Once & If this happens us Indians (& the fellow poor third world gamers) will benefit the most. 2600 for Indie games & 5k for AAA is just not within reach to non luxurious earners.

RV1709
Terrible. I am afraid this is gonna happen with “Stray” as well. My guess was it would be priced around 700-750 on EGS (Kena/Sifu)

That’s what these deals usually safeguard,a popular & much more visible storefront’s marketing capabilities.

You can buy keys elsewhere like humble bundle, donate everything to charity yet still redeem on steam etc. It's quiet user friendly.
AnK
I don’t know how steam in particular works & I didn’t even mention it while mentioning regional pricing. I was just implying why would these deals be made by popular store fronts when they are giving someone a front page visibility on their popular portal. Kinda like same reason why the cross platform DLC commission deal. Ppl playing F2P games on Sony’s more popular servers but spending money on dlc elsewhere just simply can’t be allowed from a basic business standpoint.
