There goes my dream of getting a disc drive for existing DE :P

The new digital makes little sense, especially if people want to buy the disc drive for $70, which makes it $520 - more expensive than the disc version.

1tb SSD over 825gb

2x USB ports in front over 1x

Wifi 6e over Wifi 6

Add on Disc Drive port

18% lighter without Digital

24% lighter with Drive

30% less volume

$499/$449
November 2023 release

What is the point of a slim version? same pricing for basically less weight and volume. Oh wait the slimmer digital version is $50 more.

Was'nt slim version usually cheaper in prior generations?

Prior generations never saw hardware prices going up from the launch prices.

Let alone unanimously.

We are living in unprecedented inflation times incase you haven’t noticed yet.

It is what it is at the end of the day.

PS5pro will be $600 next year with maybe a digital only $499-549.

This new $499.99 PS5 will replace the original Disc version and turn its Ultra HD Blu-ray drive into a removable piece you can also buy for $79.99”

A horizontal stand is included and a new vertical stand compatible will PS5 models will be sold at $30

Looks neat.

Though not worth the upgrade for existing owners, excellent for new buyers I think.

Personally, will wait for the Pro version next year.

What I don't like is, I can't buy a disc edition and use it as a digital edition by removing the disc drive as and when I want it.. If I have to do this..  I to shell out $450 + $70.. ideally there should have been a single $400 Digital Slim SKU and then disc attachment for those who want it..

Extra charge for vertical stand sucks which was free previously...

It doesn't, but when you open the detachable drive and keep it aside.. I don't think they have provided a digital type of enclosure to cover that place.. so you can detach and then attach pregnant disk panel to make it look fugly...

Correct me if I am wrong and indeed there is a digital enclosure included in disc edition as well ;)

Maybe one has to buy a digital edition side panel separately.

Need more enlightenment on this subject.

Coz if disc edition can’t be given the slim look on the go then this is indeed fail & a missed opportunity.
