Yep PS360-PS4 era were just on another level.

It’s got little to do with the industry but more to do with expectations & interests of Gamers that has led to the current state of gaming.

The traditional gamer’s expectations increased to the point that development cycle became a crunch while the new generation of gamers don’t really think beyond F2P or Yearly GaaS games.

Agree on new gen gamers loving multi player games more. I see this in lot of young players that they just aren't much interested in SP games. They can get the initial wow factor temporarily after seeing SP games but overall they only care about GaaS and Battle Royale.

All the rant I see on internet is from old school gamers.

Tittle should  be

Greed has no limits

Problem is now the price has been set next gen may come in this shitty price range

Gone are the days when console makers used to sell hardware at loss and recoup them from digital media

Now they want both slice of the pie

Lack of competition with arrogance can do wonders in pumping ego

First get half baked games now get half baked console

This.

Even PS3 with cell engine and its atrocious launch price, was sold at loss, so were PS4 and launch PS5.

With xbox under their feet, they can launch Pro with profit in mind, otherwise it would have priced better, maybe base version getting a price cut and pro launching at 550 or so :(

If Nintendo doesn’t try to enter High End Console market again….it’s a complete Sony monopoly until things finally (as & when) go up in the cloud.

I completely blame M$ & TeamXbox for being super greedy & treacherous during XBone planning.

Also really liked that Cerny focused on 60 fps

That’s the biggest driving force for these consoles.

GTA6 just won’t pull off 60fps on current consoles…..this will be a big X factor this time around which wasn’t present during PS4pro tenure.

Even if it supports 60fps, the cutscenes will run at 30 fps to preserve the cinematic feel.

Also, PS5 Pro will be marginally better than base PS5 no matter what mode.

Stable 30 fps is far better than experiencing constant drops.

How can we be sure there will be constant drops? No gameplay footage or analysis is out yet.

Rat’s a*s…..

PS5pro is running games like R&C,GT7,FF16,SM2,FF72,Dragon’s Dogma etc at full Native 4K with locked 60fps & some of them with RT enabled.

Thinking it won’t run GTA6 at 1440p(most likely resolution for Base PS5) at stable in range VRR ~60fps is really pessimistic thought now.

We cannot say anything confirmed till there is analysis out. All we know is that GPU is like 45% more powerful and there will be AI upscaling in all PS4 games. No one knows how it works till consoles are given to review for folks like DF, NX gamer etc.

From Mark Cerny’s own mouth.

He clearly said that the emphasis will be on performance  at pristine resolution.

If Spider-Man 2 can run at Native 4k at locked 60fps with RT then I don’t really have a reason to believe that GTA6 won’t be able to do 47+ fps(VRR range) at ~1440p without any RT.

DF mentioned that PS5 Pro cpu may bottleneck new games like GTA6 , so no chance of 60fps in pro.

Who said native 4k? He constantly said 60fps at near fidelity mode graphics and that is certain to be achieved via ssr.
