Who said native 4k? He constantly said 60fps at near fidelity mode graphics and that is certain to be achieved via ssr.

TLOU2,SpiderMan 2,Ratchet,GT7 were mentioned to be running in Quality Performance mode.

They are native 4K in Quality.

DF mentioned that PS5 Pro cpu may bottleneck new games like GTA6 , so no chance of 60fps in pro.

Yes. The cpu is going to be an issue definitely.

That’s where PSSR & 4x Hardware RT will kick in.

Newer games will most certainly be 1080p on Base PS5 & 1440p on PS5pro.

So if GTA6 runs at Native 1080p & PSSR turns it into 1440p then achieving 47+ fps on PS5pro might just be possible.

Cerny knows that Performance VRR mode is the key here & he definitely had that in mind while emphasising the new setup.

He knows that GTA6 at Performance VRR will move the most Pro units & the guy isn’t someone who should be taken lightly.

We ought to know that by now

Quality mode is not just about res.

Most of the times, the actual measured resolution in quality mode is around 1100p to 1400p.

The actual difference maker is high quality shadows, textures, RT, etc.

We will never be able to tell the difference between native 4K and 1440p if both are running at same frame rates

You are repeating common logic while straying away from what I was referring to.

What half baked games?

Play wukong on 5 and you will get your answer

Games now comes behind paywalls and portions cut out from main game to be sold later as DLC .Need huge a*s day 1 patch to fix performance issues and glitches

PS1 , PS2 and early PS3 were the best era

Just pop and play, the way consoles were meant to be

If they are native in Quality then how do you make the inference that they will be native, 60fps in quality performance?

Because that’s what he said from his own mouth & what he showed in close ups.

He clearly said “resolution of quality” & “FPS of performance” modes.

Games that don’t have Native 4K on base PS5 & are using up scaling will not be native 4k even on Pro…..but the games that are……are!!

Also my point was only that if Spider-Man 2 which he showed & confirmed during the presentation to be running at Native(or closest) 4k at locked 60fps with RT enabled then it is not really a very far fetched unrealistic idea to me that GTA6 won’t be able to pull 1080p upscaled to 1440p via PSSR running at 47+(VRR range) FPS without any sort of RT & few features like Shadows,LOD & Texture mapping pushed back.

Digital Foundry aren’t developers or coders of any sort.

They are strictly & strictly analysis experts of content that’s already out & ready to be deep dived into.

They just can’t predict from a developing point of view as to what machine, what software or what API will throughput what results.

It was evident when PS5 & SX+S launched & how brazenly wrong they were with their “predictions” & how they had to laugh it off with a straight face for the last 4 years.

So yeah take their word for their analysis for “content that’s out” & not for “content they haven’t yet seen”.

Basically the PS5 Pro is useless for those who dont have OLED tvs.

OLED TV has got nothing to do with Resolution,FPS & other HDMi 2.1 features.

It just matters in Colours,Black Levels & HDR/Dolby Vision.

& as far as HDMI 2.1 is considered any gamers who still hasn’t upgraded to HDMI 2.1 even in 4th year of PS5 & SX is already doing it wrong…..Let Alone owning PS5pro & not doing it.

OLED TV’s are expensive but HDMI 2.1 is pretty cheap feature now.

People who have PS5s currently have no compelling reason to upgrade, just to experience a few legacy titles at a better framerate.

But for those who are buying a new PS5 without currently owning one, it's an easier choice to spend the extra 200 bucks

It's surprising that Non-OLED and large size TVs have become pretty economical while OLED tv prices still remain high.  I dont buy expensive OLED tvs over 1 lakh because their depreciation rate is ridiculously high and extremely fragile.

As things stand now, there is no valid reason to upgrade. It's all on the games (mostly from AAA studios) and comparison videos to make that decision. Let's see what the SOP will show.

Yeah but I think they do not maximize the potential of PS5 let alone PS5 Pro.

Anything will look better on an OLED screen….it’s got nothing to do with PS5 or PS5pro features.

The technology produces sharper colours & deep contrasts.

This. Content on my Tab S8 Ultra looks remarkably better than my Sony Tv which is not Oled but still costed around a lakh rupees to buy. I hope OLED tech gets cheaper. Due to this, a lot of times I do end up watching content on Tab than TV  Even the videos of PS5 games looks better on the tab than tv due to oled.
