any way if the ps5 would support 1440p natively? planning to upgrade to a 1440p monitor for pc purposes. Only thing holding me back from the purchase is the ps5... so any help in this regard?

It may. But you'll still likely miss on HDR. Even the best of monitors lack as far as HDR is concerned.

This is the reason I am waiting before spending around 1 lakh on a tv just to get 120hz vrr hdmi 2.1 because I am not sure if many games if at all will run at 120hz. Have their been any games confirmed to run at 4k120hz or 1440p120hz for ps5?

Just some cross gen titles. As the generation moves forward, we'll be lucky if most titles hit 60. 120fps is just a marketing gimmick.

You aren't spending 1 lakh for HDMI 2.1. You're spending that much for good contrast levels, local dimming, proper HDR, top notch image processing, etc. HDMI 2.1 is a bonus and shouldn't be a key deciding factor imo.

I get that but the only reason I would be willing to extend my budget to around 1 lakh is if games run at 120hz. Otherwise I probably won't spend over 60k for a 55inch tv. Ideally what you say is 100% correct but I have budget constraints.

You are not going to play at 120Hz. Maybe 1-3 games over next 7 years* and that too mostly shooters or racing. If you are on a budget, skip 120Hz TV.

*Not counting indie / small titles.

I'm just going to wait a while before buying a tv. Will get the console first. By then we will have information about what resolutions and frame rates games will run at exactly.

HDMI 2.1 is required for VRR which is way more important than 120fps. Personally I won't be buying my next TV without VRR.

The main benefit of VRR will be with 120fps gaming not so much with 60fps and none with 30fps.

Lg oleds have vrr range of 120-40fps

Sony and samsung tvs have vrr range of 120-48fps.

Any games that run at framrates below that will not benefit from vrr at all. (Meaning vrr is useless for games running at 30fps).

It will help in handling small drops in 60fps games but that's it.
