I just read this while looking this up in relation to the One X...

" Microsoft set aside 1 GB of ram so the dashboard could be 4k but the game devs said they could use that 1 GB for games so Microsoft made the decision to do 1080p dash and let the game devs have the extra GB to use."

This allows games to use more RAM rather than taking up performance/memory for a higher resolution UI.

That actually sounds like a big positive. I'll take a 1080p UI if it means better performance/resources.

If it eats into resources, for no real gain, it's a smart move. I wouldn't have thought it has that big of a cost though....so it's interesting.

No sense in wasting resources on UI if devs saying that we rather use that ram to make games better.

But if too many complaint, they can fix it in future but don't think many care about UI resolution or maybe only preview units has non 4k UI not final

In-game help is dope. And the other thing I really liked is to be able to share your stream with a friend. If you are stuck on a level and know a friend who can help you out, this is like godsend.

Want to know if 3rd party will make use of this ingame help feature

For any new innovative feature you ask the same question. What the hell? I mean xbox is doing nothing new with controller and UI. Sony is actually introducing new features and all you can ask is if third parties will use it.

Maybe they will, maybe they won't. The option is there at least. Xbox doesn't even have that.

Well, Quick resume is there but Xbox is keeping it simple overall just like PS4 kept it simple current gen with UI and hardware.

PS5 new UI features sounds neat but i assure you that most of them will remain unused, all the new sh*t makes UI more cluttered and more confusing to players. Xbox one UI originally was same but now its clean and super customizable. I prefer clean simple UI then needless shoehorn "next gen features"

Remember shareplay? I wonder how many used that sh*t lol.

Pro has 1GB additional RAM just for OS and UI so it doesn't eat into games. And looks like it'll continue with PS5.

All the new features appear to be shoehorn till people actually get to use them. I still remember how bot army called share button unnecessary and gimmicky. Now their daddy Phil copied the same button on Series X so it is gamechanging :clapping:

Can't wait for the mid-gen Xbox UI update to copy few of these

Fact remains, Sony always pushes the envelope and try out new tech without worrying that it might fail. That is how we get some new tech in gaming. If it was just about hardware then you might as well build a PC and call it Xbox.

You talk like Sony copied nothing from Xbox lool. Every company copies something about other in game industry.  Sony copied stuff from Xbox and Nintendo and Xbox did same as well. That's how it goes

But idk why im replying to hope 2 0 :/

Typical xbot. The conversation was about you guys calling a feature gimmicky till Xbox copies it. It was not about copying stuff. But its not your fault, must be difficult seeing screen properly while blowing daddy Phil all the time. :clapping:

Spittin facts right there. Be it DS4 - DualSense features, UI options, LM cooling for the masses or something as simple as a 'share' button, they've been on the forefront. No other console maker or console comes close.
