How often do people actually use the 3.5mm jack on the PS controller? Or is it actually something which everyone uses?

Also is it inconvenient to use wired headphones with the controller or it works out just fine?

I use it pretty often. I have a turtlebeach PX5 that I can use for wireless but I feel the port on controller just leads to much simpler solution.

*beep* you still have the PX5 going?

Mine died in 2015 I think. That silly a*s wireless transmitter

But that was a legendary headset. Wireless on both ps3 and 360 :majesty:

This is my fav feature on PS4. It’s so good that Microsoft had to bring it to Xbox  in 2015.

Bluetooth headphones are a mess. Needs an adapter connected. And you need to charge them.

And the best part with PS4/PS5 - when you connect 3.5mm headphones to controller, TV volume goes to mute automatically (Xbox doesn’t do this. You have to manually turn it down to 0).

MS didn't bring 3.5mm jack until the V2 version of the Xbone controller. The one that launched with the One S. The V1 required users to buy an optional adapter that plugged into the controller that had a 3.5mm jack.

Bt headphones aren't a mess. It's sony that don't allow audio over Bluetooth. The audio is over 2.4ghz

Arre baad mei le lena. Its not like wireless is the end all be all.

Wired as long as you have something like Hyperx Cloud Stinger (very low impedence) absolutely works like a charm.

I don't have low impedance cans. And it's not like the expense will sting me but seeming a bit forced for me.

I think the latency would make gaming a problem. That and i think Bluetooth interferes with the signal or something. Dualshock and Xbox controller get low latency audio by using some custom codec with a very high polling rate.

PS: the XSX controller has a much better quality output over the jack than ds4. No idea about dualsense obviously.

During the PS3 gen, latency was the excuse. Knowing Sony's quirks over the years, likely it's just to push sales of their own brand headsets more than anything else.

Yeah bro. Use any 3.5mm IEMs you might have lying around. Those'll do just fine.

These are down to 3.5k since we spoke so much about 3.5mm Jack

On a separate note any good earbuds to use with the dualsense ?

Specs + Headphones = head and ear aches

Used these purely on phone a long long time ago for music/movies. Absolute top tier for neutral signature. Should hold well for gaming too

FWIW The E10 series is a Red Dot award winner. Not everything indigenously created in China is trash.

Thanks man!

I was looking for something with a mute button. Just a question if I have a earbud (with mic) connected to the dualsense does the mic on the controller still work or does it automatically switch to the mic on the buds ? Also, if that is the case does the mute button on the controller work for the earbuds as well or it is only for the dualsense mic ?

Even still, the best Bluetooth codecs have a latency of 50 ms or so. Not really usable for gaming if you ask me.

Bt 5.0 aptx is 34ms. I don't expect any human that has walked the surface of this planet to be able to discern 34ms of audio latency.

I got curious when I saw so many people order a second DualSense with their PS5 preorders. Do you really use the second controller for co-op or just like having a spare around?

Wow didn't know that!

Also how different are the gaming headphones from regular ones(something like Sennheiser 4.50BT) for casual gaming?
