FF7 (and only FF7, not even other FFs) go hand in hand with Sony, just as much as with SE.

Thats fine from a relationship/kaizen point of view, but financially FF7 remake would have done crazy well on PC.

FF, MGS all these brands basically became famous because PS consoles only.

 

PS1 PS2 literally had no competition, and single single-handedly started this fancy graphics, non-kiddie story AAA games paradigm you see today

 

FF7R being timed exclusive thou is just a result of money hatting, which even MS does, PC doesn't have a mai-baap company to money-hat so you will never see a PC "timed" exclusive.

Nintendo funded Bayo 2 development. Without their funding the IP was dead.

Yup, hence it's still coming to PC. But giving it a 1 year Sony exclusivity didn't hurt. Relationships are paramount in business (Far more than Short Term Profits), and giving FF7 Remake 1 year exclusivity definitely helped SE earn tons of brownie points with Sony. You never know when that might come in useful. Not to mention, PS4 is still the platform with the highest no of gamers, especially for JRPGs so it's not like they will be losing on that much sales. It's not like they were making it an Xbox exclusive, like they did with ROTR.

 

Plus, SE could definitely manage for 1 year without the Regional Prices sales (Which is what the majority of PC sales will be). FF7 is literally the game that is the most symbolic of the relationship between SE and Sony.

Its not going to be free, its just going to get merged with GP. You want online? Subscribe to GP. They've had so long to make F2P games free to play online and yet they haven't done it. Would be great if they did, but I hope people don't go in with wild expectations again and then get disappointed.

Haha. Not happening.

When you give something for free, first month it is celebrated, next month it becomes a normal.

Then people ask "what else?"

 

So merging seems more likely, and let's be real, Gamepass isn't going to sustain for long. MS is always scratching bottom of the barrel when it comes to First party games.
