So about that

Users on Beyond3D have pixel counted the XSX footage - it appears to be running dynamic resolution which can hit has high as 4K and as low as 1440p in the footage released so far.

Crap, wonder what will be the dynamic resolution setting for PS5.

I guess Ps5 will have watch dogs at native 4K than

Watch Dogs optimization is pathetic. A friend of mine tried running it maxed out, RTX On, DLSS On at ultrawide 1440p resolution equivalent. Running it with a brand new RTX 3090 Asus Strix mind you. A card meant for 4k 60 fps without problems. He was running a resolution at almost half of 4k with DLSS On - which increases FPS.

The FPS he got for the attempt was a grand total of 35 fps - 40 fps. That fps on an RTX 3090 - A card far more powerful than the PS5 or XSX is ridiculous.

If you want to blame someone for Watch Dogs, blame Ubisoft. MS and Sony Hardware are in no way cause of poor performance.

Looking at WD Legion night time gameplay from XSX, I wanted to say 'Ubisoft have come a long way from AC Unity'. I changed my mind after reading this

Yeah trying to judge the power of hardware based on Ubisoft game is not a good idea. I remember Unity was the first 900p game on PS4, and stayed the only game for a while.

I think your friend has completely lost it as it ain't possible in wildest scenario that the high end card would showcase such low performance when even a 2xxx series card can show better off. Pls recheck with your pal and get his basics clear. :D

It is possible, and I wrote this only after hearing from him - not guessing. GPU and CPU Utilization was fluctuating around 30%-50% or so according to what he saw - which means the game was not even using the full GPU/CPU Capabilities. Just taking a fraction and throwing out bad FPS. In situations like this - even bad Graphic games will give poor performance - because your game is not even taking advantage of Hardware. Classic Pathetic Optimization.

this guy's got a killer rig. His channel is like resolution porn and truly a place to burn your heart.

He couldn't keep 4K 60.

Typical Ubisoft. ? Wait till you see the in-game voice lip sync. ?
