They can only grow subscribers by 1 - adding more Xbox console sales , or 2 - increase mobile/tablet subscribers through xcloud.   (or 3 - increase in pc audience due to game pass ???)

I see that with the new acquisition, they are betting on 2 more.  And it will take some time for it to become mainstream.

As you only said, it isn't about sticking it to Sony but they are looking to take on other giants.

Hence, they will take any source of income they can grab their hands on. In fact, they wouldn't have paid 70billion upfront with "hopes" or generating new revenue sources by taking further loss. They would have paid looking at the revenue "already" being generated by ACTV, which includes cross platform sales.

Yeah.

I'm also thinking of a new VR/AR system from MS at some point in the future. They wouldn't want to give too much ground from their own IPs to Meta and similar competitors.

Used Holo Lens for work a few years ago, and it was pretty exciting tbh. Ofcourse it wasn't for gaming, but rather for medical training, but certainly the Ready Player One future looks pretty real.

When you look into the history of some of these studios, this gets really exciting. Hope they shell out some awesome games in the years to come and not just focus on GAAS or MP only games.

People are saying that another massive announcement is coming this week

it could be that PS is announcing their Gamepass competitor

but what if Gamepass itself is coming to PS!?

Then there is no reason get an xbox? You get PS exclusives and gamepass games all in one system. Why would anyone buy series x?

Does anyone here use the WD Black Game Drive? Does it have any significant advantage over standard HDD apart from the aesthetics?

Nope. Just use a regular drive. The Black logo is just marketing for extra bucks.

That’s a shame. Since WD Black usually claim higher RPM than regular drives, figured it might be better. Looks nice and all but I don’t feel like spending 1200 bucks more for something that’ll stay hidden behind the console for most of it’s lifespan.

Higher rpm barely makes any difference, if at all.

“Given two identically designed hard drives with the same areal densities, a 7,200 RPM drive will deliver data about 33% faster than the 5,400 RPM drive. Consequently, this specification is important when evaluating the expected performance of a hard drive or when comparing different HDD models.”

^Taken from Seagate’s website.

But yeah, any performance bump wouldn’t have been that significant because consoles don’t transfer data in a uniform manner. My reasoning was that the WD Black line up being gamer focused would provide some advantage beyond just the aesthetics
