The Microsoft executive walked into the small, windowless room in Studio C at about 8 o'clock that evening. A half dozen staffers on the company's "mixed reality" team were working late, tinkering with prototypes of virtual-reality headsets. When the boss arrived, an employee murmured, "I've got the thing working."

The executive slipped on a pair of VR goggles and hit play. As the executive gazed into the VR headset, a nearby monitor — which mirrored everything on the headset's display — flickered to life. Everyone in the room could see what the boss had chosen for his virtual-reality experience.

In the video that filled the screen, several young women in skimpy clothing frolicked on a bed; an overtly sexualized pillow fight ensued. An employee who was present, speaking with Insider later, described the scene as "VR porn." The assembled staffers exchanged confused glances, and a couple of them walked out.

"It was in the office, in front of women," the person recalled. "Incredibly uncomfortable."

Perhaps most stunning, the executive wearing the headset was not some low-level manager gone rogue. He was Alex Kipman, one of Microsoft's most powerful executives and the leader of its mixed-reality business. With his shoulder-length hair, leather jacket, and fluctuating degrees of stubble, Kipman looks as much like the frontman of a rock band as he does a tech executive.

Also, dude just watched some porn. Cancel culture has gone too far.

How is this cancel culture?

If these allegations true, there is a serious, toxic problem in this company.

Also, how is watching porn in the workplace normal?!?

Current and former employees allege Kipman has repeatedly gotten away with inappropriate behavior toward women employees, including unwanted touching.

In one instance, Kipman is alleged to have watched a lewd VR video in the office in front of employees, according to a person who was present. The video featured women in skimpy clothing frolicking on a bed and engaging in an overtly sexualized pillow fight. An employee who was present, speaking with Insider later, described the scene as "VR porn." Sources who spoke to Insider suggested the incident involving Kipman is part of a widespread pattern of executive misconduct — including verbal abuse and sexual harassment — that continues to persist at Microsoft.

Kinda irrelevant but TCL just showed that PS5 Pro and Upgraded versions of XSX/XSS are launching in 2023-2024(realistically i think it's near the end of 2024 tbh) So What do you guys think? Will any of you buy the upgraded consoles with RDNA3 Architecture(assuming it benefits greatly in RT)?

Yes,it's still a rumor but this has been going around for 6 months with multiple credible leakers suggesting the same and now TCL,a mega TV corporations confirms that further(Don't mind the comprable GPU perfomance to a RX6700XT&the 7700XT or the 8K Claims...it's probably just marketing fluff)

I get that the hardware itself isn't utlized to it's full potential and we barely have any exclusives on the Xbox side but a mid-gen refesh is to be expected right? We alread ysaw this with the xbox one x and ps4 pro which released exactly 4 years after the original consoles' launches.

I think TCL is just guessing that new consoles will arrive and probably will have 8k games so we should be ready.

Considering we are still years away from true next gen games releasing i think Pro consoles will wait a bit longer than that.

It's not normal but like watching some porn accidentally can't be a reason to destroy someone's career. Some displinary should be fine.

Guy probably didn't know that it was being streamed.

Except that isn't the only case against him. Article mentions he has a habit of touching women even when they're clearly uncomfortable, managers actively try to make sure women don't work with him, 25 women complained about him, little to no action taken. The VR thing, it was NSFW enough for women to walk out of the room.

If you read some of the Gen Chat threads you'll realize that IVG is pretty much equivalent to boys club rhetoric, which is not surprising at all.

Also just, don't touch women. Heck don't touch other people without their consent unless you're in Mumbai local train. How fking hard it is to not go touchy-touchy with other people?

One woman, who once worked on the Xboxteam, talked about how frequently women in the company were called a “bitch.”

“We did a roundtables with the women when I was in Xbox core [team] & every woman, except for 1, had been called a bitch at work,” the Microsoft employee wrote, according to Quartz. “Before people say this is just an Xbox thing (as I’ve heard that dismissiveness way too many times within Microsoft before) the other eng [engineering] orgs where my experiences happened were Windows & Azure. This is a Microsoft thing, a common one.”

Not to mention Nadella doesn’t like’ conflict’

A former executive who brought similar concerns to Nadella characterized his approach as: _What's something we can do to make it go away without making hard decisions? _"He doesn't like conflict," the person said. Misconduct is "not something he wants to hear about," said another executive who worked directly with Nadella. "If he does, he wants someone else to go fix it."

yeah, sexual harassment is a serious no-go. Every single complaint has to be investigated and acted upon. NO excuses. Lot of people who perceive themselves to possess even an iota of power start to get cocky pretty quick and that manifests in abuse and harassment. These people need to be punished for what they do to others.

But. The funny thing here is the use of these incidents by ponies for console wars. Putting these stories in VS thread and console thread shows the lens with which they view these incidents is not of empathy for the people who suffered but that of console warmongering. Using these stories for personal benefit is just shy of being as preposterous as the incident itself.
