The Xbox Series X|S thread

Recommended Posts

I just read the article. He just said that "ray-tracing as a technology has failed" cos it hasn't caught-up and the performance hit is significant.

Spoiler

‘When I think about games where ray-tracing has had a dramatic impact on my experience as a player’ said Spencer, ‘it’s kind of spotty.’

So much nonsense going on in the thread without even reading through the article completely :chair:

Xbox Series X won’t push 8K, ray-tracing has failed to deliver admits Xbox boss.

4k not worth it.

Ray tracing has failed.

Spencer giving the L to bots esp upcoming series X owners even before release. Won't be surprised if this is the first step towards abandoning xbox home consoles and going mobile and service based only.

The article is talking about 8K not 4K. TBH, 4K isn't even standard in PC gaming market. Most of the GPUs struggle to perform 4K 60 fps. In that sense, Phil is right that 8K being years away.

Really puzzling, lol. We literally have footage of only 2 next gen games running on XSX - Halo Infinite (lol) and Medium. Sony has shown literally dozens of games running on PS5 by now.

There is an article a few posts above where Phil has admitted RT has not delivered. Plus rumours of excessive heating. Maybe the system is bottlenecking due to the excess heat. This shot happens to me all the time with my 1050ti laptop, where the excess heat throttles the fps horribly after a certain duration.

Also lol at the shilly defence by Bots. System throws out hot air because its overheating internally. This happens with gaming laptops as well.

Back to the fact that MS has very little to show in terms of first part studios. Sony is able to do it cos all it's developers are working for a single platform. Whereas MS is relying heavily on third parties at launch.

Could be a concern. Or could just be the fact that the overheating issue is blown out of proportions. They probably might end up with a firmware update to boost the fan RPM if it's not already at max prior to launch.

If they were really concerned about the excess heat, why even send it out to reviewers/youtube folks?

I have the nitrosense fan speed control option on my laptop. Trust me even at max settings it does not help once the system starts blowing out hot air.

As to being blown out of proportion, yes that's a very valid possibility. Fanboys can be really dumb. Lol.
