Danm! I was ready to drop 50k on launch and hunt for XSX but this analysis really put a damper on it.

1740p 60fps with drops to 1080p in exchange for some visual upgrades which don't change the look drastically. Games like Gears 5 and Forza Horizon 4 are 1st party titles and ideally supposed to be maxed out at 4K60fps on XSX.

Would it be better to get an old X1X and buy a PS5 1-2 years later? Also, RDR2, which is my top priority, is locked to 30fps on both X1X and XSX. XSX is not offering any upgrades there.

You will get reduced load times and lesser popins.

DLSS/AI upscale with internal dynamic res that keeps final output res same while maintaining same high fps is the ultimate next step.

So even series s can look good if DLSS is used properly, like1080p-1440p with DLSS.

Lol. Pretty sure they would have produced more than they can sell.

No need to worry about Xbox.

What?

Ps5 is a hyped machine and it'll sell more than xsx for time being. In 2 months after launch there will be enough of both xsx and ps5 available easily.

Right now, both are unavailable for pre-orders.

Yeah. 4K with DLSS in Death Stranding apparently looks better than native 4K.

DLSS is Nvidias proprietary tech. I don't think it'll come to PS5/XSX/XSS. If I'm not mistaken it only supports Nvidias RTX 20 and 30 series cards.

Sony has been using their own upscaling for PS4 Pro, I'd expect it to be better in PS5.

However, AMD has been working on their own super sampling using machine learning tech equivalent to DLSS, which could come to next gen consoles.

AMD tells me it has a new super sampling feature in testing, which is designed to increase performance during ray tracing. The company is promising its super sampling technology will be open and cross-platform, which means it could come to next-gen consoles like the Xbox Series X and PS5. AMD is working with a number of partners on this technology, and it’s expecting strong industry support. Unfortunately, this won’t be ready for the launch of these three new Radeon RX 6000 Series cards.

I think its safe to assume that 'partners' here include MS and Sony.

dlss is a term thrown by nvidia ..

amd will have their own name..
isnt it the same thing what ps4 pro did for 4k output..?

dlss invents new pixels based on ai which has been trained on optimal images of that game to make the image at higher resolution ...
checkerbaording is just an upscaling technique

DLSS is ML assisted upscaling. Basically using AI to get an approximation of nearby pixels. Checkerboarding is similar but more rudimentary due to ps4 Pro lacking the Machine Learning horsepower of the RTX cards.

DLSS type tech will be on the next gen consoles for sure. It's probably already there. Will probably be improved with the new AMD tech.

okay had to ask ocz that one pcmr clown thinks its exclusive to pc bc 6 months pehle pata bhi nahi rehga whats dlss lol

Checkerboarding is not upscaling :nono:

It's basically a less refined version of DLSS and has worse artifacts.

But you can opt out of the sub anytime you want. Its only All access plan where you get stuck with 2 years sub.

Also lol, Spencer probably has the biggest mouth in many years, I dont know if this guy even feels ashamed making such statements given how horrible series X  Launch lineup is for an All Powerful next gen console. Thumping his chest over Bethesda when the first exclusive isnt probably coming before 2022.
