But why tarnish? Sony will get pleased if they release the game on PS4 too.. if Sony suddenly abandon PS4 user base that'll tarnish their image.

Gimme a break about Sony being upfront with people...they kept talking about how cross-gen games will hold games back, letting MS take all the heat when they knew perfectly well that their own PS5 "exclusives" were cross-gen. In the process, making their own fans look like a bunch of tools when they finally revealed that their games were also cross-gen. Even now, they won't outright confirm or deny Demon Souls and upcoming GOW being a true PS5 EXCLUSIVE!

Did you also ask this question in the Playstation 5 thread as well?

PS5 isn't reliant on old games only with their console launch. Even for third party, its providing a different experience because of Dual Sense basically something next gen you will experience when you buy the console not just rehashed old games like on Series X running on bumped up resolution and frame rates.

The same games can be played on his existing system with good fidelity. PS4 isnt a 720P machine mind you. TLOU2 fidelity even some next gen wont match. Cyberpunk isnt specifically made for Series X so its just bumping up the things for the game which wont be that significant. Did you see Spiderman PS5 which was on PS4? The same logic bro.

 

GP provides good library of old games which are available on PS4 at cheap cheap price as well. He isnt a fan of those which are Xbox exclusives which are hardly any so GP isnt all that hunky dory for him. Buying a 50k console to play cyberpunk for 20 days and then old games only makes no sense

 

Best would be buying Series X in 2022 when you have starfield and ES6 day 1 on GP.  Those are next gen games, those are the games you want a console where you get games for cheap prices day 1.  Buying it right now is just dampening your experience of next gen coz there is nothing next gen on Series X.

He said he wants to play Halo, Gears. He wants a next-gen console. Game Pass is a cheap alternative to buying games individually. It also gives you day one access to any next-gen title MS releases. Sure, hardware wise PS boasts more features like haptic feedback but Series X offers cheaper overall gaming when you factor in Game Pass. He's coming from a PS4 so it's not like he's not played the exclusives it has to offer. You're talking as if Cyberpunk is the only next-gen title coming to Series X/S.

What's to justify, isn't the game from Sony first party. From the studios which most of ps fanbois consider as 'games'

 

Ask sony how was the reception for a 3.5 year old game on PC, I'm pretty sure they'll consider sharing more of their first party games on PC.
