there is a workaround though.

But this is abhorrent. Game preservation my @$$ if BC needs constant updates/ internet connection. Phil Spencer needs to learn from their (tainted?) history.

This is different from the disk BC. On PS5 you can plop in whatever PS4 disk in and it'll play without internet. On SX without internet, there's 0% BC compatibility.

Who the f**k are these idiot youtubers? This personalisation thing has been there since Xbox one vcr. You can't play xbox games offline unless you have made that console your home console. It was kind of a step to prevent game sharing indefinitely. Like Sony's primary PS4.

Bunch of noobs who bought xbox first time ever??

Well known youtuber (retro gaming community).

Bro don't get your panties wet just yet, let some true next gen multi plats come out then we will see, if you have any knowledge of how PC hardware works then you know what i am saying.

Its good the gap isn't much as i will not feel a big difference now when i play on both my next gen systems. Still feel the Xbox SX has the upper hand in Hardware Power.

One would think MS would have learnt a valuable lesson after the a*s whooping they had recieved from Sony in the beginning of current gen. Seems like they're just not talking about it openly and letting people find out after they've bought the console. There's a saying in kannada that literally goes, A dog's tail is always twisted.(no matter how much you straighten it)

That saying is there in malayalam as well

Those who were lucky enough not to buy a Series X at launch but still want another chance to buy it can try at midnight on 28th Nov. It will restock on Amazon.
Any discounts where i can get a good chunk of the price reduced by turning in my old one x?

It was that sorta state of affairs where Xbots were overly exaggerating the 20% power benefit like PS5 was worth nothing

I would have easily gone with PS5 but a huge down side to it due to the existence of PS4 Pro and back compat with last gen games specifically.

Take the example of Red Dead Redemption 2 ( I am a huge fanatic for it, easily in top 5 games of the decade, DF said that its graphics were even a step above Horizon Zero Dawn considering free roam games). Pro ran RDR2 with the worst quality checkerboarding - looks very blurry - very badly done by Rockstar. X1X runs that native 4K - crisp as f@uck.

With RDR2 on PS5 with back compat, it'll still have that crappy blurry checkerboarding but with locked 30fps. XSX will run RDR2 at native 4K locked 30fps. A win for XSX. I doubt Rockstar will go back and upgrade RDR2 to native 4K on PS5.

Imagine such cases with the gigantic library of last gen games on PS5 and XSX. Since X1X was much more powerful than Pro, X1X has 4K assets, native/near native 4K, whereas Pro has lower quality assets, 1440p resolution, framerate caps etc. PS5 will just run these lower quality Pro game versions at max fps with 1440p/checkerboarding, whereas XSX will run the same on native 4K 30/60fps, high/ultra quality assets.

Xbox also has a dedicated team for back compat and root level access to games - they can easily upgrade visuals/resolution/fps. PS back compat effort is at the mercy of developers - may or may not get lucky.

Next gen games is a different matter altogether - I will definitely buy PS5 3-4 years down the line.

That's true only for a handful of One X games which are native compared to Pro, one of which is RDR2.

Pro got way more patches than One X, for example Watch Dogs 2. It runs at 1600p vs 900p. Dark Souls 3 for example runs at 60 fps on PS5 vs 30 fps on One X.

And then all the games which never got pro patches (which is a much bigger number) are always better on PS4 because they were 1080p vs 900p on Xbone. So all those games will look better on PS5.

Then we have slightly lesser resolution or checkerboarding on PS4 pro vs One X, like Sekiro for example, its 1800p on both but PS5 runs it at locked 60 fps vs 45-60 fps on XSX.

Point is, both consoles have their own advantages and disadvantages and neither is definitely superior over each other when it comes to BC of last gen.

Kinda same stupidity to keep harping 20% power difference when actual difference is just 3-4 frames per second at any given time

don’t you think?!?
well you don’t!! think do you?!

That DF analysis had quite a bit of fps difference in 3 out of 4 modes though, and those 3 are the ones most likely to be used since barely anyone has a display capable of 120fps. Maybe time will tell though.

Yeah 1X enhanced games list is tiny compared to total games, less than 300 vs 4000. If your game happen to be one of those 3700 games, its 900p-720p for you.

Last gen games I am looking to play on XSX -

RDR 2

Gears 1-5

Doom Eternal and Ancient Gods DLC

Forza Horizon 4

Wolfenstein 2

AC Origins & Odyssey

Dishonoured 2

Witcher 3

Battlefield 1 and V

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Halo series (Never played Halo before)

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Metro Exodus

Mirror's Edge

Quantum Break

Star Wars games

and others

All these are X1X enhanced, so it should all be good.

You know u are a fanboy when you say games load 35% faster on ps5, when actual difference is 1sec ???

I mean technically speaking its not a false statement, if you calculate DFs time taken to load, its 39% I think.

Sure the difference in units is just over 1 second, not something to brag about. But think about proper next gen games and games in mid/later-gen with assets of much bigger size, that 35-39% could turn out to be much more than few seconds.

I want to co-op Gears! Be sure to ask me when you play.

Gears 1 was legendary. I remember when I just used to watch review videos and drool when it came out on 360 -
