So what do you do if you play on a TV and sit 10 feet from your console? Get a 10 feet cable? How's that any worse than changing batteries and always staying wireless?

There is no need to charge DS4 from 10 feet. It can be charged from any wired charger nearby or power bank. It just requires micro usb charger. Same as Xbone controller.

Also almost all devices except TV remotes have moved on to in built batteries. And those which use batteries aren't like gaming controllers which need to be used continuously for several hours.

As I said, you won't get the cons if you have never ever experienced the pros.

Exactly my point. Using that exact same logic you can obviously understand why they chose removable batteries. In fact, MS said it themselves that they did a survey on this and the decission was split. So, they chose to keep the existing approach. Maybe next time when the decision is in favor of sealed batteries, they'll go with that approach?

Comes with a built in rechargeable battery, but you can replace them with AAs if you feel nostalgic.

You can do the same with the Xbox controller. It's just an extra purchase.

Play & Charge kits are good and all but the biggest drawback they have is that you'll be connected via a wire. Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of a wired controller? I've personally never played wired in 7 years. I just replace the batteries (as good as switching to a charged controller) and I can resume playing wirelessly.

PS4 charges a controller even in Rest Mode.  So when we are done gaming , we can keep it on charge and leave it.

Personally I actually have a charging dock which is always ON. When the controller is fully charged there is a Auto off.

Very rarely there comes a moment that my charging is down and i need a wired connection in between a game since by the time i turn on PS4, its always fully charged.

Having batteries might have their pros, but they should have also included the charge kit alongside!

If batteries are such a pro, why do the costly controllers (elite ?) don't come with batteries or not support it?

I honestly prefer batteries. They're much more convenient for me.

The eneloop batteries seemed expensive at first. But looking back, I find them to be worth it. Almost four years and countless gaming sessions under their belt and they're still going strong.

I've been using the same for 7 years. Still going strong.

I don't give a f**k about MS and their surveys if their target survey demographic is xbots who will happily bend over for them. I have used rechargeable batteries for my 360 controller, and then stopped giving a f**k about it after a while. Once I found out Xbone controller can be played via powerbank or wired charger, I stopped using rechargeable batteries.

This too. After 2-3 hours session I take a break anyways and keep DS4 charging on the rest mode.

The extra purchase is the sticking point. Otherwise its the best solution.

Agreed but it's a possibility nonetheless. But can you do the same with the PS controller? I mean stay wireless all the time? From what I know, no, right?

Unless you play for 8 hours straight and have only one single controller, then no.

That's like me saying I don't give a f**k about PS controllers because they don't they replaceable batteries. To each his own.

If next gen MS chooses to go for sealed batteries, I'll be hugely disappointed. But honestly, I'll live with it and stop crying after a day or two.

Not all the time unless you buy $10 3rd party battery pack. Personally I'm wired 100% of the time because I have Strikepack back button attachment which is wired. I don't even know if the battery in my DS4 is dead or not

So that they last more than 5 hours of game time each charge.

Ok. Next time lets use a nokia 3310 instead of any modern day smart phones. These need to charged only once every 5 days compared to charging daily.

This argument is literally like that of replaceable batteries in phones. I personally never cared for sealed batteries and never bothered buying phones which had them. Always replaceable. But since my choice of phone stopped supporting it, I stopped caring. Would I still prefer replaceable over sealed? Any f**king day! Do I have that option though? No.

I don't think you quite understood the context of my reply to CC. We were discussing the possibility of making the Xbox controller like the SN30 Pro+.

Argument is nothing like replaceable batteries in phones. Did you keep replacing batteries in phones to charge them separately?

This argument is like preferring walkman over ipods when it comes to charging the devices.

No point. There were people here who were arguing during ps4/xbox one  that having a seperate power brick outside the console is better than an internal power brick. :giggle:
