They said it is to prevent save file modification, possibly to prevent people from getting infinite credits, which would in turn reduce the overall MTX. I like that GT always advocates for disciplined gameplay but it should only apply for online races. Let people play single player however they want. Collective outrage is ultimately good for the end consumer but considering the grip hold PlayStation has on gaming, this is likely the era going forward rather than a statement on the past.
