RV1709
Most surprising to me was 60fps on Series S with RT off. I guess the RE engine works well for weaker consoles

RV1709
I loved the scaled down RE7 and the remakes which moved away from extreme action. Get a strong feeling I will be disappointed with this one
Guest
Opencritic The Good Updates the best action elements of the Resident Evil franchise, mixing them well with RE7's designs Does a great job varying pace and changing intensity while always feeling in keeping with the franchise Combat is tight, fluid, and fun, especially in The Mercenaries The Beneviento part. Seriously. The Bad Last hour or so takes the action in a direction that feels like it belongs in another game Villains are fun but story connections to the rest of the franchise feel tacked on

All these 9+ scores are a pleasant surprise. Btw, anybody getting it on steam can get it from me once the game releases at 20% discount, help me help you help me
radicaldude
Comparing this with/to RE4 is akin to comparing apples with oranges. RE4 , imho, is the best game in the entire series. The set pieces, story, presentation, feel, characters, style, action etc has not been replicated after that. Maybe RE2 remake is the next best thing. I think capcom should go back to the tps view. I somehow feel re series doesn't go well with the fps view. Capcom is trying hard to change from action/survival horror to a pure fps horror genre, which I don't think suits this series. Stick to the basics. Give us stylised action sequences that japanese developers have a forte in. Though reviews have been good so far, personally, I felt the world to be too clunky and monotonous for an fps experience.
