FIFA 20 is an upcoming football simulation video game published by Electronic Arts,[ as the 27th installment in the FIFA series. It was first announced at a press conference at E3 2019, and is set to be released on 27 September 2019.

Gameplay changes came primarily in the form of a new feature titled Volta Football. The mode – meaning ‘return’ in Portuguese – is a renaissance of previous FIFA Street-style elements, providing a variance on the traditional 11v11 gameplay. It is set to include the ability to play 3v3 Rush (No GK's), 4v4, 4v4 Rush, 5v5 and professional futsal modes. Using the same engine, the game places an emphasis on skill and independent play, rather than tactical or team-play. The player is also able to customise their own player; aside from selecting gender, the players will also have a wide variety of clothes and accessories to choose from, ranging from shoes and clothes to hats and tattoos. Volta Football will also have a "The Journey" style storyline, which can be played with the player's own character.[4]

The traditional 11v11 mode has also changed, in order to encourage more 1-on-1s, off-the-ball space creation, as well as new penalty and free-kick mechanics. Updates to the ball physics were also included in the game.[5]

Whilst the Xbox One, PS4 and PC versions will have all of the new features, the Nintendo Switch version will instead be a Legacy Edition, with updated kits, rosters and minor updates, but will lack the new Volta Football mode or any of the other new features. [6] FIFA 20 will not be released on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, making FIFA 19 the final game in the series to be released on those platforms

ON THE BALL - Enjoy more control over the Decisive Moments that determine the outcome of every match in FIFA 20.

Pick your target and time it right from the spot. Add curl, dip, or knuckle to free kicks. A new aiming mechanic gives you more creativity from dead balls.

  • STRAFE DRIBBLING - Move with more agility. Lure the defender in. Beat them with speed or skill. New strafe dribbling adds new dimensions for attacking play in FIFA 20.
  • CONTROLLED TACKLING - Take back possession with Active Touch Tackling and new animations that reward you for well-timed defensive play.
  • COMPOSED FINISHING - More clinical finishing when one-on-one. More risk with volleys and long shots. Overhauled shooting creates more realism in front of goal in FIFA 20.

OFF THE BALL - More time and space. More emphasis on your actions on the ball.

  • AI DEFENDING OVERHAUL - Win it back with better defensive support from AI-controlled players via an overhauled positioning and tackling system.
  • NATURAL PLAYER MOTION - Experience more natural and realistic movement all over the pitch with innovations in player motion and positioning.

THE BALL - In the air. On the ground. In FIFA 20, the ball moves more naturally than ever before.

  • FOOTBALL-INFORMED MOTION - Realistic ball movement with more authentic spins and bounces create a true-to-life match experience in FIFA 20.
  • NEW SHOT TRAJECTORIES - Curling shots. Dipping free kicks. Knuckleballs. First-time rising strikes. All made possible by the new Ball Motion System in FIFA 20.

Tools: Achieving a one-on-one situation was the first step, the next step was to provide both sides with tools to resolve these plays. Some of these new tools are;

  • New Strafe Dribble
  • Controlled Tackling
  • Agile Jockey System

New commands:

  • Lofted Ground Pass: X+X / A + A
  • Lofted Ground Through Pass: △+△ / Y + Y
  • Driven Lobbed Through Pass: L1 +R1 + △ / LB + RB + Y
  • Slow Dribble: L2 + R2 + LS / LT + RT + LS
  • Set Up Touch: R1 + RS Direction (Hold) / RB + RS Direction (Hold)
  • Strafe Dribble: L1 +LS / LB + LS
  • Strafe Dribble (lock face angle): L1 + R1 + LS / LB + RB + LS
  • Goalkeeper Cross Intercept: △ / Y + △ / Y (Hold)

Other Improvements

  • Goalkeeper Cross Intercept: Press △/Y + △/Y and hold, and the Goalkeeper will rush from the goal line to the penalty mark in order to intercept any incoming crosses. While that might help with intercepting the incoming cross, it also creates a risk of the goalkeeper getting caught out of position.
  • Referees in play: Referees are now ‘permeable’ and should not collide with the ball or players, preventing them from influencing the play in any way.
  • Improved Blocks: Improvements to reduce the amount of missed blocks and added new animations.
  • Lofted Passes: New ‘dinked pass’ when pressing the pass (ground or through) button twice - as mentioned in our first article.
  • Ball Relative Switching: New Switching option when using the Right-Stick to switch. Players can change their settings to perform Ball Relative switches instead of the classic Player Relative switches. This helps players that use the ball as a visual reference when switching.
  • Removed “No Touch Dribble”: Avoid conflicts with other mechanics and creates space for the new Set Up Touch. This was another topic widely requested during our feedback sessions with the community.
  • Early Lock to Pass Receiver: New controller settings option for Passing to allow locking to a Receiver early vs late (default). Locking early allows players to change the left stick direction after the pass animation starts without changing where the pass goes. Locking late allows players to change their mind as late as possible, close to the moment when the ball is kicked.
  • Kick-Off Emotions: Improved functionality and animations, players are able to perform an emotion during any Kick-Off. Each direction performs a specific emotion:
  1. Angry towards Opponent = RS Up
  2. Angry towards Team = RS Down
  3. Happy towards Opponent = RS Left
  4. Happy towards Team = RS Right
  5. (This feature is used to express yourself to your opponent and has no impact in gameplay.)
  • 50/50 Tackles: Addressed issues with 50/50 tackles, especially with them being triggered in dribbling situations, giving extra advantage to the dribbler when being tackled.
  • Pass Block Assistance: Turning off the “Pass Block Assistance” setting will now only affect the User Controlled player and not the AI controlled players, to allow users more control for auto blocks. Another topic that was requested by players during our feedback sessions.
  • New Skill Moves: Lateral Heel to Heel, Feint and Exit, Drag to Drag, and Flair Roulette are new skill moves. Heel Chop Turn and Drag Back Sombrero are new combo skills.
  • New Celebrations and Animations that serve both to updating our library of real-life moments and refreshing the overall visual quality of the game, while aiming for a better depiction of moves and reactions of players.

PITCH NOTES - PRO CLUBS DEEP DIVE

Customization - For FIFA 20, we are introducing a new Avatar system that replaces player creation across the entire game - including Pro Clubs. This feature will bring new ways to design your Virtual Pro's visual characteristics via an improved 4 quadrant axis morphing tool which not only allows you to morph and define each facial feature to your liking, but to also go further than ever with added morphing options and skin tones.

In FIFA 20, from community feedback, we have added back the following positions:

  • LF/RF
  • LW/RW
  • RWB/LWB

These newly added positions are also accompanied by a revitalized player progression system within FIFA 20, where choosing between different positions, heights and weights will now have a deeper impact on how your Virtual Pro moves and feels, with these choices affecting all of your Pro’s physical attributes.

We've introduced over 30 additional traits for FIFA 20 that, if paired together with specialty traits, will allow you to take customization to the next level. They offer increased benefits to your pro, but at an increased cost and a potential effect on other attributes.

Broadcast - We have worked on re-branding the mode for FIFA 20 to add to the immersion you feel when experiencing a Pro Clubs match. In FIFA 20, we've implemented broadcast features such as replay transition wipes, an on-screen watermark, club banners and a new Pro Clubs logo. The club banners are influenced and defined by a team's primary and secondary colors, and show the name of the club in the stands. Stadiums that support banners will display both home and away club banners throughout the matches.

Match Types - House Rules Cups takes the popular House Rules from FIFA’s Kick-Off mode and brings them into Pro Clubs. Replacing the old cups, House Rules Cups will rotate a match type every day of the week, with a different cup playable each weekend. The schedule is visible in-game so you’ll never miss your favourite cup.

Practice Match allows for Clubs to practice individually or as a team against varied AI difficulties, from beginner to legendary. In addition to the available difficulties, you can set which tactics you want to play against (i.e. Possession based or High Pressure) and what overall rating you want your AI opponents to be, from 80 rated all the way to 99 overall rated players.

Some of the main ones that have been tackled in FIFA 20 Pro Clubs are as follows:

  • ‘Any’ Stamina Bug - Stamina drained faster for the player controlling the ‘Any’ position
  • CB in wall - The game now places taller forwards and midfielders in the wall to defend against Free Kicks
  • GK Set Piece - Having a GK as captain will no longer affect game stability when your team has a set piece to take
  • Club Trophy Celebration - Clubs can now watch the full Cup Celebration when you win
  • Another hot topic in the Pro Clubs community is Kit Clashing. This year we have added over 25 new customizable kits and over 150 crests to choose from.

Opinions on Hazard and Van Djik being on the cover?

Hazard bit unexpected but given the Madrid status it's not surprising. VVD is fully earned spot and with LFC partnership it's expected.

Ultimate edition might have Neymar or Lottin on cover. Let's see.

I wasnt honestly expecting Hazard to be on the cover. I felt that because of the LFC partnership and them winning the UCL this year it would be VVD and maybe the Salah-Mane-Firmino trifecta on the other cover.

SEASON OBJECTIVES

Season Objectives will be released in 4 ways: Daily, Weekly, Season, and Dynamic Objectives.

  • Daily Objectives are simple tasks which are released each day and contribute XP to your Season Rewards. They will automatically release each day and expire after 24hrs.
  • Weekly Objectives are groups of objectives which have rewards and XP associated with the completion of the individual objectives release each week. In case you miss one week’s objectives they will stay active in the game for a 2nd week, with the exception of the last week of a season which will expire when the Season does.
  • Season Objectives are longer term challenges to finish and from the time they are put live they will remain live until the last day of the season.
  • Finally, Dynamic Objectives are special time-limited release Objective Groups which will not have a regular release schedule and will end after a set period of time determined by the dynamic objective group. These could be tied to campaigns or real world events that are happening in the game during the course of the Season.

That’s not all for objectives this year. We’ve also introduced two other ways to unlock rewards for your play with Foundation and Milestones Objectives.

  • Foundation Objectives are the place for new players to learn the ropes of FIFA Ultimate Team, with organized learning objectives grouped together by subjects such as trading, team building and Chemistry.
  • Milestones Objectives are long term objective groups which are not tied to any Season. Once a Milestone objective group is created in FUT 20 you’ll be able to continue making progress against these objectives, unlocking their rewards at your pace. From player feedback we know that many of you have been looking for more ways to progress in FUT and Milestones allow us to celebrate and reward key moments in every player’s FUT Club.

Overall there’s going to be more choice in the objectives system both in what you want to do with your time as you continue to progress, and which rewards you want to work towards unlocking.

New Customization Options

We’ve also added new ways to personalize your club and truly show off your unique style on the pitch. In the past when playing FUT we’ve had a number of custom kits, designed by some amazing artists, which have been loved by our fans - with some of our custom kits being among the most popular kits in Ultimate Team.

Make your club truly unique with new options for customisation, including kits, crests, Stadium Themes, Tifos, and celebrations, unlocked via Season Objectives.

FUT Friendlies

One of the things that I'm really excited to talk about is the launch of FUT Friendlies. A new hub to play FUT with your friends locally or online, as well as head to head online in traditional 11v11 gameplay, with or without House Rules.

1EfqjNd.jpg

  • Mystery Ball brings the element of surprise each time the ball leaves play as it comes in as a new mystery ball type. Each ball has a custom goal value that ranges from 1-3 goals and boosts the player in possession with over the top effects that take their Shooting, Dribbling, Passing, Sprint Speed, or the all powerful All Ball, which brings each of the other effects at the same time.
  • King of the Hill combines the power of dribbling in a control zone with a goal value meter making the focus of the game different than ever before. A control zone will spawn in the attacking zone which you will have to get the ball inside and then continue to control it as the space shrinks and your goal meter starts to fill. Balance your chances between retaining possession and pushing for a max goal value of 3, and then work your way up the pitch and try to score.

Squad Battles

Since the launch in FUT 18, Squad Battles has proven to be one of our most popular modes. In FUT 20, you’ll see a new interface which puts a better emphasis on the details of the squad you’re about to face. You’ll see the top three players from each squad, some details on the current tactical setup and formation, the kits and stadium, as well as the ratings for the squad and their chemistry displayed more clearly. Those opponent squads will feature their customization as well, with Tifo and stadium themes carrying into each match.

dZDTd13.png

To start, we’ve removed the timed refreshes in Squad Battles for FUT 20. You will now be able to refresh 4 new squads whenever you want, until you hit your maximum of 10 refreshes for the weekly competition (up 40 games per week). While those first 10 refreshes are the only squads which will count towards your weekly competition standings, you will be able to continue to refresh and get new opponent squads to work on completing objectives or just for some fresh opponents to play.

And all other changes/additions
