This omicron variant is being hailed by some and feared by many. What's its deal? Any idea if it will repeat the delta devastation or it will be milder? Any such trend out there or too early to tell?

Too early to tell.

Nobody knows. We're in a much better position than we were during Delta so there's that. Fingers crossed.

Lol yeah most of us are dreading going back to office . Even with the limited workforce going to office, my travel time gets close to 3 hours whenever i visit office. Can't even imagine when all offices open, most companies have stopped shared cabs ,couple that with exceptionally high salary packages being offered right now to people in IT, number of vehicles will go up significantly. More traffic.

India and the world is filled with such chu nandans.

This is why closing the borders for a month is simply no-brainer.

True. Indians ki G main khujli rehti hai to throw noisy weddings even in the middle of pandemic. Everyone wants lavish receptions , pandemic be damned.

One of my cousins is getting married early Jan. I asked my aunt what the rush was, since middle of a pandemic + cousin is only 22. Aunt says we want it to coincide with our wedding anniversary. Like whaaaaaaaaaa? GTFO. That reasoning :wallbash:

Of course I made clear we wouldn't be making it. Can't be bothered to die right now.

We have 3 marriages in our family, and 5 birthday parties throughout Dec and Jan. Most recent is an upcoming one from my sis in law.

I'm trying to make sure wife understands the risk before committing to the party, but it's really proving difficult.

You guys think people would hold off getting married forever?

No. But the least they could do is keep it a small affair. My cozn is trying to search for a property that will allow atleast 500 people he is rejecting all the properties which are strict with number of people at the wedding. Some properties he said have agreed for 300 and said another 50-60 extra you can invite no one checks. :wallbash:

True.

Almost every other person says what's the need of a wedding in a pandemic? Just hold on.

Well, people have been holding on for more than 2 years now. Age is a factor for some and they can't just keep postponing it.

Although I do agree that people can & should settle for something modest and not something extremely lavish and crowded.

Last week, a cousin of mine got married and no more than 50 people were invited.

Ppl can’t hold on forever but common sense calls for flexibility & adjustment in accordance with ongoing waves of the pandemic.

Like you can easily socialise, party, host parties when things are ok at the healthcare infrastructure.
But once you realise that things are getting out of hands & the system is collapsing or you see an imminent wave emerging due to a new variant which will soon reflect even in your region.

The least you could do is postpone till the time things stabilise.

A lot of ppl are smart & sensible enough to figure that out but some aren’t.

& everyone has full right to ignore their invites no matter how close they are to you.
