The Coronavirus Thread Part 2

There is a research showing that people who have dengue anti bodies have mild covid symptoms.

Since a dengue vaccine is out there they are conducting a research and vaccinating people to check if they are recovering quickly or not.

But but but. Dengue vaccine is safe ONLY for people who HAVE HAD dengue infection before.

Those who have never got dengue infection should not get the vaccine as it can lead to severe symptoms if they get infected with dengue later on.

I had dengue in 2014. Motherf**king bitch!

It wasnt the weakness and all that troubled me but the sheer number of times the nurses kept drawing blood samples for tests thats a PITA.

Also first thing I did when i recovered from icu to my room was to go and check in the washroom mirror if I had Abs since i lost 4-5kgs. :P

I had dengue as well recently : 16-18 months ago i think.

First 8-10 days i didn't even go to a doctor

Kept feeling it's not an ordinary cold/fever but i avoid doctors,

ultimately got admitted to icu section but wasn't feeling much bad since being admitted.

Actually in the inverted bed for a week my back pain was temporarily gone.

Only huge complain was i hate pooping someplace else.

I also had Dengue but strangely there were no big symptoms. Just rash on body and lymph node on neck were swollen. The test showed up positive and platelet count was just below normal. I talked to my family doctor and just recovered at home. Did one blood test per day and count was back to normal in 3-4 days. I had papaya juice 3 times a day though lol. Sometimes I wondered if I even had Dengue and it was some other virus. Google told me it might have been West Nile fever virus so I dunno.

For the first 2 days of dengue i though it was common fever. I was walking to the temple near my home and market etc in 102 fever i did not even feel any weakness apart from occassional dizziness. But then platelet count started dropping rapidly and i lost my complete appetite for 4- 5 days. Completely hooked up on those bags of fluids without food.

Oh..looks like I didn't reach that stage. My fever also wasn't more than 100. And that papaya juice is supposed to increase platelet count rapidly. Someone had recommended to drink that multiple times per day. The weakness was bad though.

Well looks like we have many Dengue surviours here.

Me too had Dengue in 2012 and my platelet count fell as low as 13000. Normal range is above 1.5lac. 1 week in ICU and 1 week in normal ward + crazy weekness, had to be moved on wheel chairs for doing sonography test etc. Local doc recommended blood transfusion but my uncle took the right decision to move me to Prince Aly Khan hospital (Mumbai) late night. The Doc and staff were very caring and luckily no blood transfusion was done. Took a total of 2 months to fully recover.

I didn't feel much weakness either.

Constant headache was common.

One uncareful doctor in 7 th day with mad rush had sent me back saying it's just cold, i did say he's wrong.

Only after another doctor on the maybe 12th day was sure its dengue and it was.

Dragon fruit was recommended.

Hospital food was good and they carried me in a wheelchair although i urged them i dont need it but that's procedure i guess : didn't like that.

But refused the nurses to clean me.

I mean whatever wet cloth rub thing they do.

They had attached some kind of mechanism on my hand that they could take/give blood/injections directly from it so injections were no longer a pain.

Then 6 days in icu and then 7-8 in normal room and 7-8 days at home.

(Not sure of the numbers)

I was told not to eat non veg for a couple of months by everybody, don't know if the doctors said that as well ?

but i started with meat on reaching home.

This sounds scary. I was extremely lucky to not have any major issues. I recovered in a week and joined office on Monday.

Dengue is spread through the bite of the female mosquito (Aedes aegypti).

Indeed it was scary for me and my family. Since then I have been killing mosquitos with swatter bat + have become paranoid with mosquito bites, so I always keep a anti mosquito cream and after bite cream handy. (don't want to take any further chances)

Same here. Very paranoid about mosquitoes because a second dengue has high chances of being fatal.
