Maharashtra government introduces night curfew till 5th Jan.

Guess it has been done to discourage Christmas and New Year Celebration. Official word is due to UK strain though.

Good decision.

The one thing about this is I finally got around to deleting my FB, Whatsapp, Insta and realised only 3 people remembered my birthday, excluding my wife, kid, mom, pop and one out of two of my siblings. Its a sobering thought. Not sure how I feel about it really, but I will say its kind of maybe liberating to be free?

Honestly, I don't remember birthdays of most people. Doesn't mean I don't care about them just bad with remembering so many dates.

Oh I mean birthday isn't it. I haven't spoken with any of them either. These are the people that would call or I would call every weekend types. Calls just went unanswered mostly, conversations were stunted when they were, and exiting whatsapp meant I just didn't exist anymore :D

basic biology question, why do cells have receptors if viruses (or foreign bodies in general) can gain entry and wreck havoc ?  Also, what are viruses anyway ? Some leftover dna/rna strands floating the air for some weird reason ? They don't have anything beyond proteins and rna, so why on earth do they reproduce ?

How will cells get nutrients and oxygen if they didn't have receptors? Viruses just exploit them to gain entrance and wreck havoc.

Tbh this year has taught me the value of holding onto relationships. Have called and received calls from so many “friends” who otherwise were just drinks-buddies and nothing more. The human contact or the need for one has been a revelation.
I spend so much time talking to the one person apart from the wife (my team mate) that she actually asked me last week “Are you done?” ???

Oh don't get me wrong. The people I thought were important were not, and the people I never expected turned out to be. Go figure

isn't the cell already manufacturing the energy inside and self sufficient in terms of nutrients ?

True man. But times like these have an uncanny way of showing who the ones are that actually care and find time to stay in touch.
Some of the people I never thought would be in touch... Anyways so glad we still find time to check on each other no matter the distance or years of no contact.
I personally ended up getting reconnected with my childhood bestie on Twitter of all things. Thought the guy was dead ?

Side note for clarity : Seems like I should have been more specific about the birthday thing. It's not that they didn't remember my birthday. It's that birthdays are really important to some of them, the types that would take offence if you didn't remember their birthdays so I kind of inferred it was a one way street with them.

Choose the stocks you have high conviction in and add more.

Was expecting a correction since couple of weeks and the virus woes presented it today.

Added heavily to my portfolio. +1 for stock market thread.

It's just the 1st day of correction. I am guessing more to come.

Such a philosophical question.

Yes, I am expecting the same but I think it will be range bound. Not expecting this kind of fall in coming days. I am not saying "Buy at dip" but I have some stocks in which I have deep conviction in and those are the ones I have added for 5-10yrs.

As a doctor what’s your take on allowing household helps? Mine’s coming after almost 8 months so damn excited. I’ll of course make sure she sanitizes hands before and after leaving the house and wears a mask full time while she’s in.
Anything else you suggest as a precautionary measure bro?

We also have our house help coming in. It's just impossible with 2 small kids and old parents and both of us working jobs to take care of things for so long without a help.

We got her RTPCR done before she joined. We give her 1 N95 mask every week - and disinfect it daily via a UV oven (for 10 mins or more), and keep it in a bag. Sanitize her hands before she enters, and she is also pretty careful not to take off her mask anytime in the house (also make sure the mask gets a good fit - here the V4400 by Venus is pretty good. You have a metallic nose clip which can seal better).

We also give her a pack of 100 3-ply masks for her and her family every month to ensure they wear it wherever they travel.
