Once the local trains are opened for everyone, it’s going be a bloodbath. I had seen on YT even during the initial phases of the unlock, so many people used to suffer having to travel in jam packed buses for 7-8 hours to&fro for work. Can’t fault them they need to retain their livelihood but damn ?

IT has adjusted itself to WFH fully. The cost spent on rents, maintenance, pantry, security, transports, office-boys, internet, electricity & water....all is getting saved. All this comes to 10k-25k per head per month, depends on location, headcount etc. A 200 ppl office, will on average will easily save 3-4cr annually just by WFH. Plus, many of the companies are giving additional laptops, Desktops, allowances to create home workstations...all to gotten in name of the company,. depreciatable to save more taxes. So WFH is here to stay.
iamgulshan
I might be in the minority but man, I got super depressed working from home. I believe in firm boundaries between office and personal life and COVID f###ed it up. I work at gurgaon and travel from Delhi. I am the only one in my friend circle who would like to go to office and enjoy occasional work from home. I absolutely despise working from home these days. Joking around and laughing and all that has just disappeared from the normal routine. Damn right ! I mean sure, most of the colleagues are not our friends but still, working in office building maintains the work life balance more efficiently. Now working from home has mixed all that :/ I kinda miss traveling in metro (and that metro crowd too ??)

Real BB will happen once companies, like the UK, out of sheer stupidity, will allow people to work from offices after just 1 vaccine dose. We already have the more virulent strain in India. One sneeze, and the whole office is infected. Fun times.

A lot of people who don't like it. One of the problem of WFH is that your work hours remain heavily irregulated. Since you gotta help around the house also, you tend to put in more time during the hours which would be after hours otherwise, just to compensate. The focus should be on vaccinating as fast as possible because I don't think most people give a sh*t anymore. Exactly, focus should be on vaccination. Getting as much of the population vaccinated in as little time is the only concrete way because honestly, you can't expect people to follow this corona lifestyle for eternity. Some part of the population will still get infected but I guess we'll have to just deal with it. Best we can do and hope is that people just don't forget corona as soon as they are vaccinated and wait for the majority to get the doses. But that maybe a long shot. I just don't have that kind of rapport with folks at home and it gets f**king boring. Besides that, work is such that teams change every 2 months or so and it hard to build any kind of rapport online and it feels like you're working with nameless drones. This is true, all of my friends who graduated last year and started working, miss their offices. They felt happy at first but now are tired as now they feel like being back in college and working from assignment to assignment. A big part of the saying "Love the work you do and do the work you love" comes from the socializing you do at your workplace, going out with friends/colleagues for a drink after finishing a project etc. And not to forget, human are social beings, we need socialization (scientifically saying). I will be graduating and joining work this year and honestly, I don't want to carry on with sitting in a chair and working on the laptop. Not to forget, people and your seniors forget that their are time boundaries. Last summer during my intern, it was horrible because of this. But for the companies who are eager to call their employees already, well, that's just sad.

Sadly it’s not the number of people who don’t like WFH. I respect that. Household chores and kids. But at the end of the day, life is more important than the titillation one gets trying frantically to please bosses for an undeserved promotion, by barking endlessly for return to work. As for work hours management, that’s honestly a prerogative of the individual. If one is working beyond their stipulated hours it’s a clear giveaway they are tardy with prioritising work in an efficient manner. Not fair on the ones that do this right. I follow my set pattern 8-5. I end my day exactly at 5pm just the same way when the world was normal. I know that’s a luxury not everyone has at disposal, but thankfully I’m in a good place that respects work-life balance. Also letting work speak is more important than simply “logging” 9 hours at office.

radicaldude
I wonder if harassment ( gender based and otherwise) has reduced/increased during this (WFH) time period. Also, the role of HR in an organization when almost 100% of employees are wfh.
