Based on efficacy and other data found here, it was given emergency use approval. In March, Lancet published P2 data and confirmed the efficiency to be 96%. Bharat biotech is not fly by night operator. Schedule for Covaxin/Covishield is decided ling ago. First 100m doses of Covishield will be subsidised by SII and given to govt and the SII will start putting on open market. SII plans to sell at 1000rs when they it in open market https://www.businesstoday.in/current/corporate/serum-institute-to-supply-covid-19-vaccine-at-rs-250-a-dose-close-to-signing-deal-with-centre/story/424200.html https://www.businesstoday.in/current/corporate/serum-institute-to-supply-covid-19-vaccine-at-rs-250-a-dose-close-to-signing-deal-with-centre/story/424200.html padh likh le bhai tu bhi. Bhai tu mujhe mat bta kya padhna. At one side you are advocating how the data of Covaxin was published later on and on the other side you have a problem with Pfizer asking for leniency. You are quoting old articles after which developments were made. In the end Pfizer agreed to hold trials if they were guaranteed orders in case their efficacy matched or surpassed the one which their US study produced. How is that problematic? They aren't asking to fund them without producing results like Covaxin did. Headline padhke degree nhi milti, zara search kro ki hua kya. Ek line padhke dimaag me reh gai and usse hi chipkaye ja rhe ho. Also, SII has already supplied 100M+ vaccines to Govt. and supplied another 30M to Covax alliance, so why is it not putting it on the open market? Why is it not readily available if they had a contract beforehand? Because, they don't have enough Vaccine. They aren't able to fulfill their commitments to AstraZeneca, let alone the free market. So if they aren't able to do it, then why stop another player? Because then how Govt. will flex its chest post 56 inches. You absolutely have no knowledge and you don't even try to agree that you might be short on information. This is a kind of absolute power which no force in the universe can beat. He says he needs INR 3,000 crore to fund capacity increase. That's chump change in the grand scheme of things and he won't have any trouble getting it financed but he wants to blackmail government into giving him grant for it. Yeah, I mentioned this earlier. He says that since Govt. pays SII less than foreign commitments thus he needs the grant. It's a business at the end of the day.

Pfizer has asked Latin American countries to put up their buildings and military bases as guarantee to cover legal cost if there are any lawsuits. We are totally covered with Covaxin and covishield, I don’t understand why do we have to go out of way for Pfizer. Give them emergency use approval and then run into issues. Do you think any AEs due to these Covaxin or Covishield are even getting reported ? And please don't be under the impression that you can sue SII or BB. Not saying what Pfizer did is right, but with such limited data, there are sh*t ton of things which can go wrong in future. And US has a history of class action lawsuits. 1 hour ago, Right said: What do you mean guinea pigs? Phase II trial har smaller sample size, 380 people were administered Vaxx. I know it fits the design of P2, but nothing really can be said before a detailed analysis of P3. Thankfully the P3 data is encouraging, but I have read and heard horror stories of how the trial was conducted, mismanaged/unreported AEs etc, so I will take it with a huge dump of salt. There is some politics and confusion on this but Covishield alone has current production capability of 70-100m doses per month, which is more than we have vaccinated so far. But they are producing 2M per day, obviously because distribution isn’t sorted. https://m.economictimes.com/industry/healthcare/biotech/healthcare/manufacturing-capacity-of-covishield-70-100-mm-doses-per-month-covaxin-150mm-doses-per-year-dbt/articleshow/81397851.cms Secondly, we are having wastage of vaccines, nearly 6% of doses have been wasted (5L in MH alone!) because vial once opened needs to be used within 4 hrs. They are not ramping up because of the lack of the distribution. That is their theoretical max for which they need funding. Currently Govt. is burning through 4M+ vaccines a day, even at 70M/month capacity it is not enough. Also, out of those 70M, India is not getting all of it. SII has legal obligations to fulfill to AstraZeneca and other countries, hence the scarcity.

There is no scarcity, there is a wastage and problem in distribution. Someone with access to real time data mentioned on Twitter that out of 170k odd doses availed to Mumbai, less than 1/3rd were administered. B. We do not know delivery schedule SII is following, But SII already provided 40m to GOI at the beginning of February. There is no data available in public which will suggest that vaccine stocks are running out, except political allegation, which debunked by Harshvardhan. He also cited the real time vaccine data. So if someone is serious about the charge of scarcity, they should take screenshots of dashboard and post it. Strangely, this same set of people are asking for opening vaccines for all 18+, If we don’t have scarcity, we will have for sure.
