Aloy
What's the potential cause of this sudden surge in cases? Is it the new strain and people neglecting guidelines because of Holi and religious festivals? Or is there more to it?

If you think it was directed towards you then you must have said something which required justification which you are providing unasked. Pardon me, if this is already discussed in the thread. Also a friend suggested to get this instead of plain oxymeter as it provides continuous monitoring via phone - https://www.oneplus.in/product/oneplus-band Thoughts on this? Get one from Dr. Trust. These bands are not as accurate as a dedicated oxymeter. You can order directly from Dr. Trust website.

My mom got vaccinated a week ago so that's nice.

My mom got vaccinated a week ago so that's nice. Current vaccines will require a booster shot to catter directly to new strains. Covidshield and Covaxin's 3rd booster trials have already begun but given how AZ is under fire with blood clots cases, not sure about the availability going forward. Probably people will have to get another vaccine as well in that case, preferably mRNA one and then followed by yearly boosters (depending on how Corona mutates). But protection being provided by current vaccines is absolutely essential as well, so should be taken as soon as possible. My parents' 2nd dose is due in May 2nd week.

Walker
My folks are sched for the second dose next week. Idiots are already planning on travelling. Told them they can't travel till June because vaccine will take that long for full effect. Have to buy time somehow till monsoon, when I know my mom hates travelling . KnackChap
Question to all the experts. If someone become covid positive after taking both the doses of vaccine will he still be able to spread it to other folks?

Some studies say yes, but with mutated viruses running amok, I doubt we will get to know anytime soon, and hence the recommendation that you've to wear masks and maintain distance even post vaccination. Eventually we have to find a relation between viral load and infectivity, and how much do the vaccinations affect viral load. Some studies are ongoing (I guess a 12000 volunteer study in USA is the biggest).

Spits on my science degree. Anyway, we don't have such data. So, you can't say this. Better is to keep taking precautions and assume that the person will be contagious. Right
Reliance has offered to give MH 100mt Oxygen from their refinery in Jamnagar. That man has done more for India than all the politician combined, but wankers hate him like he is the biggest problem of India.

I don’t think vaccines are claiming to stop the outward transmission from a vaccinated person. Any vaccinated person should be considered a spreader as one non-vaccinated would be. And there are cases that vaccinated people aren’t developing antibodies, I mean we are so fked in this situation.
