RemD is mostly useless or has extremely limited value.

Virafin looks like another RemD in the making:

https://science.thewire.in/the-sciences/zydus-virafin-pegylated-interferon-alpha-2b-india-dcgi-approve-covid-trial-methods-flaw/

The P2 design is REALLY bad. And the significance is just marginal (as the article states, they could claim signifiace due to just 1 extra patient achieving a very random primary endpoint in Virafin arm).

P3 data is still not published in public domain.

@KunjanPSD Can you find any P3 on this ?

DCGI will approve anything at this point. :wallbash:

Absolutely. This illness needs a proper drug to target it specifically. One year is over and we are still relying on repurposed drugs. A twice failed drug like remdesivir which looks like it would become thrice failed. Even the vaccines are out now. Still no drug for covid.

DRDO made a drug. Let's see if it works.

Don't keep up hope: https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/questions-remain-on-drdos-covid-drug/article34537596.ece

The primary endpoint is labelled as "efficacy of 2DG as adjunctive therapy". WTF ! That's not a primary endpoint. :wallbash:

One of the news channels had PIs from this trial, and they couldn't answer most questions scientifically.

Shoddy medicine at best.

Slightly off topic. But is the bodies let go in the Ganges a regular thing or just amplified right now?

Extremely depressing and embarrassing for us as a country.

In UP, it's not uncommon to let go of the passed ones in water bodies, specially Ganges, and specially in villages. Call it sticking to some old beliefs or the scare of not wanting to even touch the body (cremation needs waiting and certain rituals), but the scale of these bodies is staggering.

I was chatting with mom (she's from Kanpur, and Ganges goes through the city, and is a big part of city culture). She said she does remember seeing a body floating in Ganges once or twice (very long ago), but ofcourse, no one expects 2000+ bodies to be there.

Seems like the river has turned into a dumping ground now.

It's also pretty common to dump animal bodies in Ganges.

When going from Lucknow to Kanpur, you pass through a very narrow bridge over the Ganges. Over the past 30 years or so, noticed a few things:

- The shore lines have receded like crazy, at least 60%

- Water level is abysmal now

- Water is dirty as f**k. Extremely unclean.

- People still bathe in that unclean water. Extreme blind faith is common.

Kanpur itself is an industrial area, and it has a long history of dumping industrial waste into Ganges ("Ganga Maiya sab theek kar dengi"). Dumping bodies, tbh, is not surprising the more I think about it.

Thanks bro. The coverage this is getting in international media is super embarrassing. I had a feeling this was the norm but now it's out for everyone on the planet to see and judge. ?

Cover ups have already started. Barkha Dutt's reporting means international media will pick it up.

Bisht will soon find a political scapegoat and all will be forgotten. Everyone will move on to new..  news.

True

For all the cowdung that is hurled at her, she was the only journo who put a hand around migrant labourers to console them without fearing for her own life. I have remastered respect for her after everything she's done throughout the past 14 months. And Shekhar Gupta of The Print.

This cannot and should not be forgotten. It's like we have gone out of our way to convince the rest of the planet to abhor and shun us like the way we did to leprosy patients.

I've given up all hopes of ever doing a europe trip ever again.

Wife tested positive

In three weeks she has stepped out just once to go to my parents place one block away. It still caught up, this virus is very much airborne. The only reason i can say is that the one below us tested positive few days back. And 6 floors down same issue, first 3rd floor guys got the virus, then fourth floor guys just above them got infected. There is a pattern here and doctor I consulted is saying not to use exhaust fan of bathroom if anyone up and down is positive.

This is crazy.
