The Bulletin's analysis was on point. Scientific, unbiased. Made it pretty clear on how the virus originated.

Yeah, that was a brilliant piece.

Slowly but surely, people are coming to agree to the possibility of it being lab-made, something which was discarded as conspiracy theory by many last year.

I just realised this morning that my passport is expiring in 2 weeks.

I know I wouldn’t need it in foreseeable future for travel  but don’t want to let it expired.

Anyone got theirs renewed recently, especially in lockdown?

Meanwhile getting a slot here is a lottery

I think that is how it should be done, make it like a lottery.

Register your name on the portal, select upto 5 dates that you prefer.

Daily Draw will be made and selected ones get a slot on dates they chose.

i guess you can easily get it renewed within one year after expiry. it is after one year after expiry that the sh*t hits the fan. but you should at least apply for re-issue within your validity period and be done with form filling and stuff. if you are getting an appointment then the passport office should be open. guess it falls under essential service.

I just applied for reissue.

I was getting dates only after lockdown ending, 7th June onwards.

So I guess, it is still closed.

I dont think it is closed. You just got a later date. I am 99% sure that passport service should be open regardless of any sort of lockdown.

The slots are pretty low and people have already gobbled them up.

My friends who are going overseas for education are looking for visa appointments 3 times a day and the closest one available is in March 2022. All of the rest have already been booked.

I think this is the reason, they probably have restricted to far fewer slots, to maintain social distancing and all.

Passport offices are pretty crowded usually.

This will be my 3rd passport, they could've made it online. Used my existing biometric....

If you can arrange. Try to get it renewed before it expires. Less pain. Mine was expiring in 2020 but I had it updated in 2019. Put my updated photo and 1 more thing I don't remember. It was a perfect excuse. Every time, the passport is updated with something, they extend around 10 years.

Have not read the article but saw a random proof based tweet by a specialist who explained that wearing an N95 mask will block 95% viral load and provide only 5% covid exposure which is equivalent to a vaccine dose.

There is a minutephysics video that explains this very well. N95 is a mask rating that means the mask blocks 95% of the medium sized particles. There are also N99 masks that block 99%.
