They were denied because of the "risk-profile" and the availability of other vaccines. It's just a matter of time before DRL gets the nod. Although I am not sure if they are gonna do their due diligence educating people to go with the 2-dose Sputnik first over the light.

I fully expect Cadilla to be the first vaccine for the children, they have submitted the data for their under 18 trial and application for EUA and approval looks likely to come by August. They have applied for EUA for 18+ population and should have it between a week along with their Pharmajet, needle-less delivery.

India ranks 50/53 countries surveyed Vaccine rollout with simultaneous opening of the economy is an onerous task. Vaccinations also depend on the willingness of the population to get vaccinated. It's impossible to match vaccination rates of china due to 1) india being a democracy- you can't forcefully vaccinate ppl 2) the sheer size of the population 3) general literacy levels of population 4) role of states in this process as health is a state subject 5) trained man power And many more... Though I agree vaccinations should speed up. But the scale of operations is overwhelming
Right
All these comparison are chu*giri. India has administered more doses than US, despite vaccinations started a month later than US, it gives vaxx to 1 New Zealand everyday. Canada has given 1 dose to their 75% population. 75% for us means nearly 70cr adults, for Canada less than 3 Cr.
Krazyniks
I agree vaccinating a country with population like ours is a huge task , but claiming moral victory on absolute numbers doesn't change the reality that unless we can fully vaccinate a huge number of our population like 50% we wouldn't be able to return to normalisation like other countries have . Also If only this report was based on Vaccinations done , India would have definitely ranked higher. It also depends on severity of lockdown , current covid status* in the country , quality of life, vaccinated travel route and more . Krazyniks
Btw official death count due to covid crossed 4 lakhs in the country today. Close to 2.5 lakhs people died in the second wave in 3 months as per official estimates. While in wave 1 official death count was 1.5 lakhs in 6 months from July to Dec . Actual toll is way higher as we all know .

Well, I never said we are in all-clear, we are far from it. we need to constantly hit 75L target everyday. Look at Australia, they have given just 30% of its population at least one dose, just 60L! They lockdown the whocle even if 1 case comes up.
radicaldude
Similar case, like Kerela, where around 40% of the population has received atleast one dose.
Big Boss
This sh*t will never go away unless people stay put and follow social distancing and masks. As long as humans will continue to remain social for non mandatory reasons like get togethers, tourism etc the virus will remain there. It's a simple thing to do, but majority of the idiots out there lack mental aptitude to follow this. I mean consider my friends, 30-35 year old men gathered at a friend's house on Sunday because one of our friend came from Mumbai to Pune. They remained at house whole day and went to restaurant in afternoon. Was that f**king necessary? All were confident nothing will happen because they took first dose of covishield. Absolute morons. The guy who invited me didn't even know about Delta variant. Edited July 2, 2021 by Big Boss
