Holy sh*t :hi2:. Mad respect.

"Free ration, free medicine, free treatment. There is nothing free. It's the commitment of the welfare state to serve these needs."

Make this man our PM.

Heh.

I think if we are able to provide services to ppl to those who are willing to pay for, should be good enough. And then subsidize for those with little means.

No country should become a socialist or welfare state, especially when there are just 4% direct tax payers.

We should become a state where govt has to work on only one thing that is job creation or push more and more ppl towards entrepreneurship.

Wealth creation is the only way, distributing other people’s money in the name of welfare is nothing but a ticking bomb.

The end of history is not over. We still don't know if capitalism is the answer.

Too much capitalism leads to separatist tendencies and inequalities. Capitalism thrives on have and have nots.

Govt can't be a nightwatchman. Not everyone can be an entrepreneur. Those who want to, will be anyways. You can't force entrepreneurship on people. The govt should just remove the inpediments that create problems for entrepreneurs.

In my opinion, mixed economy is perfect for the Indian state. However, it should be implemented in spirit and not just in letter.

Easy to say sitting in the comfort of your home.

India is already a welfare state. So are most of the world's most successful economies.

Using taxpayers money to help the underprivileged section of our society is the responsibility of the government. Calling it "Free" like it's some favour is disgusting.

It's free for 96% of the population. Technically the statement is not wrong.

The point is there is nothing to advertise or chest thump about.

Its their responsibility to do that. Also, claiming credit for it is stupid when taxpayers are funding it.

Did you guys even watch the video?

Health is a state subject btw, just for the record.

Welfarism makes sense in countries like Australia where 40% of population pays taxes upto 45% of their income.

Because of so many People who pay taxes, everyone gets access to free healthcare, education, social security, unemployment support, cheaper loans, research grants, access to best public infra and whatnot.

India has become a freeloader-friendly state. Not “become” but that have been run like that for long time.

There was a time when ppl were paying 96% taxes on their income, yes you heard that right, as if making money was a crime.

Every year, millionaires leave India, on account of not getting the bang for their tax bucks. And they are right too.

This year, well to do folks were made to run around and spending thousands of rupees on an oxygen cylinder and hospital beds and yet they lost their near and dead ones.

It was failure of govt all around, but moreover failure of welfare state, because welfare cannot be more than available means, you can’t keep giving more than what you have.

Masks work, but not 100%.

Even 2% condoms fail which lead to pregnancies.

I think in this world the communication is very important, masks shouldn’t have been marketed as a solution.

What is this strawman? Literally nothing in life is a 100% solution. I'm sure the type of people in that video are very careful and nuanced about what works as a solution. /s

Masks are the best. Shave whenever you want. Eat as much raw garlic as you feel like. It took a pandemic to start this but its end wont make me stop wearing a mask even if people start to shun me.
