Hey guys, so Nash thought it would be good idea for me to play TLOU2 since I love Naughty Dog but also because I can’t do horror games. So I think this might me more fun for him than for me :fear:

TLOU1 and TLOU2 are the only horror type games I've ever done. If you thought tlou1 basement was scary, tlou2 will literally require change of pants every now and then.

No amount of live audience or NPC companions can make that feeling go away.

Whenever sh*t hits the fan, I used to take my headphones off and play on mute. That's the only way to make the game less scary.

I swear I heard knocking sounds a few times. One time I pressed the share button to monitor the clip and validate if the sound was actually there or not. Guess what :fear1:

Haha Sam should not read this thread.

I don't like to be scared personally. It gives me anxiety and nightmares and sh*t. Also, I just like to play games like a badass and not some pussy hiding and sh*t.

More than scary. This game is so bloody intense even in human encounters. I use the PS Headset so had to take them off many times due to intensity and sweat :fear1: :fear1:

2nd playthrough was very easy though. You literally blaze through the game since you already know where to go :P

I think its the atmosphere that's oppressive and the constant tension. Not to mention the glorious sound design. More than once I've taken off the PS headset to look around in the dark at shadows.

The game is almost never silent. If you're using headphone setup you'll constantly keep hearing distant sounds. Its like Dead Space but 10x worse.

The game is pretty much atmosphere porn :P

I especially loved the atmosphere in the evening section of Day 2. I constantly had the feeling that I'm not supposed to be here.

The lighting was fantastic too. I doubt there are many games that have portrayed low-light conditions (the kind of lighting you get around 6:30pm or so :P) this well.

You mean the almost twilight? Oh yes, adds in spades to the gloom.

I was actually thinking a lot about this before I started playing TLOU2. I can tolerate the scares for most part but I have never enjoyed it. And I really wonder why people like being in fear intentionally. What is the payoff - eventually overcoming the scary thing? Or is it just like defiance.

Anyway, playing TLOU2 on very easy seems to be the only way I can pull through. As long as the game doesn’t make me kill too many dogs. :fear:

You may be on to something there. I'm a scaredy cat through and through but pushing through it and coming out ok is probably what drives me. Games more than movies, because games are personal?

There have been times when I've pulled the plug right out, safe shutdown be damned. I still haven't gotten around to finish RE7 because I just can't bring myself to face it but I know I will. Just not yet.

I never play/watch horror movies or even any movie with slight horror elements (for me, horror = supernatural stuff), but I was able to play The Last Of Us games. Not saying it was easy. Primary reason was to watch the story unfold.

I mostly have an issue with supernatural stuff shown in games/movies. If I know it's logical (grounded in scientific explanations and everything like TLoU) and there's no supernatural element involved, I can wrap my head around that and see the game through.
