In next 3 years people will forget this game and still talk about Crysis more.

The casual hype will be gone after a month and small niche hardcore crowd won't change much.

This. Sometimes I think people forget the name of the game. There's a dedicated bunch of people from the old flight sim that will move to this one and pick a few more hardcore followers along the way.

You won't see random John upgrading his from 1050ti just to play Flight Simulator.

Childhood buddy of mine lives his dream of being a pilot through flight simulator and will upgrade just for this. That's all he plays. These guys take this really seriously. Not sure how it works but apparently his group have dedicated ATC, I mean live operators, and sh*t and actually have to map a flight plan, ask for take off and landing clearance etc. He literally doesn't give a sh*t about anything else gamewise. Told him about gamepass. He was literally f**k that, I'm buying it anyway.

Edit - Funny story : same guy cancelled dinner on me once because he didn't get clearance for landing or takeoff on time or something so he would be delayed. I truly understood dedication that day.

This is new Crysis tbh. Pretty graphics which pushes your hardware real hard, but everything else is just boring including "gameplay" :P

IMO its not your typical video game which has a campaign/level ups etc.. It is a simulation so I won't expect to play it for "gameplay"
I would just try it and visit a lot of places around the globe..

I have a friend at work who is super into cars. He bought a logitech g29 to play f1 and forza and sh*t but somewhere along the way he got introduced to Truck Simulator and he just plays that now most of the time to unwind after work. He says it's really zen.

i found it weird to drive a truck with the TM T150. The seating was all wrong. Felt like I was sitting low in a sports car which was really sluggish

Also was a pain to setup so I just went keyboard instead.

It's fun in the same way a sim racing game is fun. Some people really enjoy flying planes. Basically it's super realistic, you have to pay attention to a ton of things to get a plane to take off or land. I imagine there'll be private servers or whatever with realistic flight paths or whatever too.

It's a niche game which will be enjoyed by a very small number of people in the long term. Not made for mass consumption.

In SIM racing, you have races but here you cant race :P Agree on the Niche part. Its an experience.

How is this fun though? Or its like Flower mybe

It is fun for those type of dudes who always wanted to be pilots or something i guess

Really niche thing, those who play actively have 1000s of hours of play learning the ropes and buy special joysticks and all for the real pilot experience and all.

last MS Flight sim came out in 2006, so they don't make these every year.

It is not your typical game but a simulator. Even though, MS has tried to bring this game to mass market but it will never be a mainstream game. It requires a lot of preparation in reading and understanding the concepts of flying. Moreover, you need to invest in hardware to get the real feeling. This will push away a lot of people. Moreover, it will be fun only for those who want to simulate a real flying experience. Most people who enjoy this game, fly on VAT SIM, a virtual simulation network, where you can file a flight plan and communicate with ATC (simmer at the other end) with real world procedures.

As of now, FS 2020 aircraft's are bare bones. I am not sure if you have observed, most of the switches on airliners A320 Neo and 747-8 do not work. If you look at FSX 2006, it has been very active in terms of development. There are a lot of small companies which still develop add-ons (aircraft, scenery, weather engine and what not) for FSX. The aircraft from these companies are licensed from Boeing or Airbus and simulate most functions of the real aircraft with highly accurate flight model. So, in short, you create an emergency situation like engine fire, hydraulics failure, and then try to land the plane like a real pilot.

Btw, some of the above companies are planning to bring their aircraft to Flight Simulator 2020.
