PUBG Mobile ban announced in India

Let the speculation end: The PUBG ban is real. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has banned 118 apps, most of them made by Chinese developers, the biggest of them being Tencent’s popular battle royale game.

The list of 118 apps also includes other Android and iOS games developed by China-based developers, such as Rise of Kingdoms: Lost Crusade, AFK Arena and several games from NetEase, including Marvel Super War, Creative Destruction, Crusaders of Light.

PUBG Mobile isn’t the only major Tencent game to be banned. Its mobile MOA Arena of Valor has also joins the list.

We should add that the PUBG Mobile ban does not affect the PC and console versions of the game, which are developed by Bluehole, which is a South Korean company.

The list also includes several other lesser known games, as well as many carrom, Ludo and Chess titles.

The official reason for the bans is that these apps “are engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order [sic]”.

The latest wave of bans on Chinese apps comes after the government banned 59 apps in June, the biggest of them being TikTok. That ban remains in effect, so it will be interesting to see how long the ban on PUBG Mobile remains in effect.

This story is developing and we will continue to update it as more details become available.

Dang. Apparently there are 30Million active PUBG Mobile players in India. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a social media backlash.

Can't take this seriously, if they said they're concerned about social engineering it could be somewhat reasonable..

Quite possible. I have a bunch of friends who play, and they're all just relieved that they hadn't bought their battle pass for this season yet

>believing the official jhumla reason

The irl reason is that a message is being sent to the PRC that their companies cannot continue to make $$$ from India while their stunts at the LAC continue :nono:
