If they pay the same salary they pay to devs in say Canada, they probably won't run the studio here.
And for any MNC in that matter, India and Vietnam will remain cost-centers.
They  come here to get a lot of side-work/maintenance work done here for cheap, so they don't need to get super expensive resources for it in the US.

While coming to the games  if you are paying 60$ for their game, you are still getting the same product for which US guys  the same monies.
Regional pricing is a privilege and not a right, it is important to experiment  with for the company so the region slowly picks the consumption,
but if the company doesn't see the future potential, they may not.

This is the reason I asked in terms of ethical grounds. In terms of legality what they are doing is absolutely legal no doubt about that but in terms of moral grounds i am not sure.

Also while its true regional pricing is not a right it is something that is severely needed in our market to make it more accessible. Right now we are in a unique situation where Ubisoft India is probably the only devs in which the employees can't even afford their own games. Not really sure if this is true for any others.

Even CD projekt started with distributing games for cheap in Poland. A country which at that time could not afford games and was plagued by Piracy. That's how they gained popularity and are what they are today. Had it not been for that everyone and their mother would still be pirating games in Poland.

A market will only grow if you give it a chance to grow. Especially in sectors which it is possible due to no incremental cost like is the case in software.

Should you give back to society you are being benefited from, yes of course.

But giving back for some company may not be necessary to give their products in cheap, but helping to build game scene in the country, or build a team whose members may build AAA titles in future, giving exposure to tools, techniques, which they would NEVER get their hands on otherwise.

Selling games at regional/subsidised pricing is purely commercial decision. And one needs to answer these questions.

1. If I sell for half how many more units I can sell?

2. how many returning customers I would get for my next product

And then they would eventually come to realisation that VideoGames are not the products which are consumed like McD burger in India, there is niche market and profit by selling higher volume is not possible.

But since we are talking  about regional pricing....

Strong suggestions that JIO will be partnering with xCloud or Stadia, more likely xCloud..

JIO is the only company which is capable to generate volume-based profit, plus they are continuously building infra to support it.

So Stadia with highly subsidised pricing of games or xCloud which works on JIO STB/mobile devices is a strong possibility.

How this pans out we would know in a year, when they unveil 5G.
