What skill do you need in this one?:P

You think you can perform those combos without having any skill? Wow!

If that's a sarcasm then some of you don't even realize that FF7 remake combat also had nothing special to offer.

I think you guys are confusing the “Skill” with “finishing the game” & not “Mastering the Combos”.

Don’t know about this game but usually Hack n Slash action games are deep in “Skill” when you master the combos & not drag yourself to the finish line.

If you put on those 3 rings (evasion/combos/assistance) then it’s just pressing square and pressing qte on time, there’s literally nothing else to the combat apart from upgrading abilities when you level up.  Clive is really op and those rings are not some mod or something , they were prompted by the game itself in the beginning ! I’m not sure if the game was difficult before, but I’ve never died even once so far , even against bosses it’s just spamming square !

I’m tempted to try playing the game without those rings, maybe in the next play through !

Outside of combat, the game itself is good though, perhaps the best presentation of story I’ve seen in video games in recent times!

Just curious though,  is this game some sort of prequel to ff7 remake? There’s so much stuff common like ifrit and chocobo.  Or like set on the same universe or something ?

Final Fantasy games go by the same code they're either in heroic or villainous role. Odin, Bahamut, Ifrit, Phoenix, Ramuh, Titan, Leviathan, Shiva, Garuda. Universe change, this one certainly has much more mature in narrative than the others I've played and read about. FF15 came closest.

I was surprised when reviewers said those kind of rings exists in game and they do not negates the trophies (it's basically cheat codes I felt) I never touched them, maybe they put them for disables.

You should definitely try without it. It's far more fun.

Yea, by that games with difficulty settings don't usually need much of a skill to complete the game when played on easy/story modes.

No. Not at all linked to ff7. Ifrit etc summon/eikons are more or less fbe same in every ff game but mythology is completely different. Ff9 and ff7 are a class apart though. Master story telling

Would like to see some of your gameplay man, attempting those on a boss fight especially in FF mode and I heard the DLC bosses are way harder than the base game.

Ahh, I wasn't using any of those rings. My fav was berserker ring and keep swapping other 2 for ability cooldowns. Wish to play the DLC's in future.

You're playing in PC? Graphics should be immeasurable.

Gfx are some of the best even on ps5.  Just completed that ifrit fight and man , all those fireworks !! was scared if base ps5 can handle all that visual fidelity…. I think it’s running at 30fps in gfx mode ? I would love to check out this game on pro !

Done with the main game. Pretty good game, combat is button mashing but as you unlock more skills the combos become interesting. Visually very pretty.

Indeed. It's just switching combos and execute but its so good to play.

Remake combat is even more basic a*s than 16, you even get to pause and contemplate life etc before continuing the action. The only complexity is ATB management, which has been a thing since like FFIV.

This is a load of bull.

Remake combat is anything but basic. You need to strategize from whole range of commands, the materia you slot actually makes a lot of difference(not just character specific but enemy specific too), the synergies with other characters (and their own range of moves and materia slots) also change the dynamics, and to top it off you're movement along the battlefield also is key (this again varies from character to character, especially useful for Aerith).

16 on the other hand is like 1/10th complexity of Remake. Have Platted both, combat on Remake is miles ahead of 16. This doesn't mean I dislike 16, love it for what it is, but when it comes to combat, basic among the two is not Remake.
