A well crafted teaser is always more impactful than any gameplay reveal trailer. 

 

Take TLOU2’s first ever teaser, where Ellie sings and has that hallucination. 

That still gives me goosebumps.

Hopefully they'll throw some light on the story as well and not show kratos moving around with a log on his shoulders with "in game footage" inscribed.

It was announced almost a year ago with nothing but a Logo 

Usually the Render tease is impactful when announcing the game 

 

Not after 1 year of it already being announced & that too a direct sequel coming on same lead platform (apart from next gen)

 

Hype will only be in gameplay trailer/demo

I understand some people are pissed. But honestly who actually thought this was going to release in 2021. No way in hades was sony ever going to blow their load right at the start of the gen. Seems to me people have some really really unrealistic expectations.

Thing is if they had announced it as a Crossgen title on day 1 it would have been a lot more believable release window 

 

But the fact that they didn’t & alongside the same release window of Horizon FW it was anyone’s guess that this particular tease was nothing but BS to fill up the show & create needles hype for PS5 

 

18-21 fiscal year is enough time to roll out a sequel to an already established game with the same lead platform (& upgraded graphics for next gen) otherwise 

 

& they didn’t really have to worry about early gen big release for a Crossgen title 

 

Other publishers had been doing this for generations

At this point they will show gameplay and not teasers. They have revealed nothing after more than year. IMO I would like a full show rather than a State of Play covering one game.

The moment I saw the teaser I knew it won't come out in 2021. Difference between 1st teaser and Game release has always been 2-3 years atleast for Sony Exclusives. It'd be a surprise if it releases in the 1st half of 2022.

It's just my opinion, but the title of this game should not be Ragnarok. Ragnarok is final. It's the end of almost the entire Norse Pantheon. If they are making a trilogy, this one should be named Fimbulwinter or Endless Winter or something. Fimbulwinter started at the end of GoW1 and it's the pre-cursor to Ragnarok proper. Continuous winter, with no sun or summer in any of the 9 Worlds of Yggdrasil and continuous wars fought in all the Yggdrasil Worlds. Might be better than just dumping in Ragnarok directly. At least, it will be different than Marvel.
