So you want PS to be cheaper because its more popular or the Xbox to be cheap because its not popular?

Both are similarly specc'd. What sort of pricing expectations are you talking about and what does popularity have to do with it?

Guys, popularity has everything to do with it. If a console is popular in a country, company usually starts manufacturing it there to reduce prices. Which is not the case here. Biggest example of this is Samsung whose prices in India are inline with other countries because they started manufacturing their products here. I know most of us are fans of PS but let's be open in criticism and our thinking.

PS4 sold in its lifetime in India less than what it sells on a single Black Friday in the US. So no, PS is not "popular" in India. Its so entitled to expect a company to start manufacturing in your country with shite bureaucracy and Infrastructure.

It's honestly hilarious how people fail to understand even basic economics. A company will sell at a price where it makes the most money. Sony wouldn't drop price just because it was saving money on customs by manufacturing here. Besides the scale is so small, its not even worth it to set up manufacturing here.

Well the state is!! in a bad shape

but PS manufacturing is not really being affected by that

iPhone started getting manufactured here recently

so if that can this can too

it’s just that India has a certain percentage reserved for Indian market while manufacturing something here & rightly so

so while PS is!! popular it still doesn’t warrant investment in manufacturing here coz the minimum number produced will still not match those percentages

Is it? I don't think so. That's antithetical to government's objective of making India a manufacturing hub.

We don't even sell that many consoles here to consider local manufacturing. No console was manufactured here till date.

You're comparing a company that sells phones from 15k to 1.5L. against a product that only has 1 SKU.

You just grasping at straws and want criticism just for the sake of it.

Why else do you think it hasn't become a manufacturing hub like China

With land & labour cost even cheaper

This is Democracy 101 for you

A certain percentage, depending on the product

Has!! to be consumed locally

Guys no need to get riled up unnecessarily. Its just an opinion. There are many businesses that manufacture in India to promote their business here without any market share initially. Automobiles, Pharma being some examples. Its not how much you sell, but how seriously you take the market.

Obviously, you don't create a market by:

 1. Charging customers 25-30% more what you charge in other countries despite knowing that the purchasing power of people here is less.

2. Giving lesser services for more money. (Online services like Share Play etc.)

Indians don't get these features of Sony despite paying more for PS Plus membership.

As I said before, don't be blind lovers of a brand. Afterall, there are fans who are even justifying Apple's move to remove charger and earpods from new phones too but it doesn't make it right.

Just heard a comparison between Pharma and Playstation. Yup I'm out of here

Because apparently taxes aren't a thing in India.

Well, Xbox has never been as popular here as PS. So expectations from both of them are obviously different.

Here, if you mean IVG yes :P but India I don't think MS was joking official day 1 India release if it was not popular...

Xbox is no where near as popular as PS in whole of Asia

Let alone India

So yeah only thing he's right on is that Sony can decrease price (competitively) & still make a bigger profit than Xbox

But they don't have any reason to

PS:Xbox is 5:1 probably in India, if you go by used listings in olx, Which is a reliable marker.

Nothing like this! India is trying to boost exports because everyone knows local market has no/little purchasing power.

And India fails because of unionization, corruption, babu fear and lack of infrastructure.

So are US and EU democracy 101?

Don’t blame democracy bro. Even US is a democracy.

AnK is an expert at writing nonsense without any sources. Earlier he was proclaiming covid is losing it's severity with zero sources.
