Silent Hill: Homecoming

DAT IDIOT!

^^ Spoiler for SH4...

Well, Eileen didn't die in SH4, you can save her at the end. I really liked her, LOL... she was always so ready to battle the creatures despite having one leg, one hand and one eye! There was no way you could save Cynthia though. And her ghost was probably the scariest!

You really need to play SH2. It's very different from the other three in terms of plot.

^^ I actually found SH3 and 1 scarier...

Remember that scene in the bathroom? looking into the mirror...and all those blood veins spread around..in the hospital..OMFG!!!!!!The sound effets in one were amazing....and the game itself was very spooky...

But SH2 overall was awesome... I got the restless dreams version from torrents

SH4..yeah cynthia was bloody scary...

SH3 had more monsters and blood than any of the other SH games. Although Heather was a great character, I didn't really like the overall plot. It just seemed too predictable. It's still a great game when compared to other games in the genre... the mirror room and the mannequin room are classics!

I found the Blue Creek Apartments to be the scariest... I was totally unprepared for that! By the time I reached Toluca prison I felt like I had already been through so much now what else could the game possibly throw at me? Still the invisible ghost in the prison cell which made that weird sound and the gallows chamber scared the hell out of me!

I'm just curious to know, which creature from the SH series freaks you guys out the most?

For me it's the mannequins in SH2. I dunno but it's just the weird design... the thing has no head and no arms! It's just so damn creepy. Plus they never emit radio static and won't start moving until you shine the flashlight on them. There's nothing scarier than shifting your POV around only to find a damn mannequin standing right in front of you. They're very easy to kill but very creepy...

the pyramid head.......the first time i saw him in sh2......you know behind some bars in an apartment, i was like WTF is that?

the rape scene too was very disturbing......i was actually too young when i played sh2 to figure out that pyramid head was actually raping the mannequins

but the atmosphere in silent hill creeps me out more than the creatures themselves

Still the invisible ghost in the prison cell which made that weird sound

i didn't actually know it was an invisible ghost.......always thought it was the pyramid head.......whenever i heard that sound, i'd just rush to the next room

yea i know Eileen could be saved. actually i got the worst ending and so cursed myself for wasting so much time on that game. and yea the fact that makes Cynthia more scary is that we have been acquainted with her and known her as ally. watch ur friend turn into ghost was the reason that made her even more scary though she really had a very creepy design as a creature too.

hmm i'd say that the environment and sound effects make this game series more scary than the creatures themselves.

Yes, that's what I've always said too. The atmosphere in the games is more effective at scaring you than the monsters. However, I just wanted to know which creature appealed to you the most. Team Silent have designed these monsters such that they mess with people's heads... and I think they succeeded at it in my case at least...

^^i agree with you.....the sound effects and the creepy environments scare the s**t out of most people.....its not the things that you are seeing that scare you,its the unseen that gives you the creeps......Thats why SH games are much like japanese horror movies....they get under your skin.....

I have an inherent fear of hospitals.... and every SH game MUST have a hospital level.

How many of you have seen Jacob's Ladder? SH was heavily inspired by the movie. There are tons of references... especially in SH2.

^^^ Oh yeah just watched it...The movie didnt really freak me out cause I had already played 3 silent hill games...but they were really good..pyramid head is in the movie!!

The part that made me go WTF! was the part where he walks down the tracks and jumps away before the train hits him...EXACTLY the same thing happens in SH3....

The hospital was also very very similar...

I dont quite remeber the references in SH2...long time since I played that game...gotta play it again...

yes u r ryt the monsters are designed that way.. but i cant rate one above the other. all of them are scary in their own way and they really get on ur nerves..

looks like i ll also have to watch Jacob's Ladder...

Yeah I completely agree, pyramid head,is over hyped.....I read so much about the guy being one of the best villians ever..but when I got to him,it was kind of like a let down...I found the other monsters more disturbing..

I'm happy akira is doing the music...I listen to the soundtracks everyday..love them!

Looks like the team is over enthusiastic....and seems like it's going to have more emphasis on action.... which is okay...but silent hill is more about seeing and feeling than playing....

hee hee..Indians complaining about outsourcing to america :nerves:

 nope it wasn't

Silent Hill V re-named and dated for September

Silent Hill V is no longer called Silent Hill V. Konami's just dropped us a line to let us - and now you lot - know that it's carrying a new name. Say hello to Silent Hill: Homecoming. Sounds like the title of a dodgy 'B' horror movie.

Along with the name change, Konami's confirmed a European release date of "end of September" for the survival horror sequel that's planning to scare the casing off Xbox 360 and PS3.

Homecoming follows the tale of Alex Shepherd, returning to his hometown of Shepherd's Glen to investigate the sudden disappearance of his brother.

"Alex must survive attacks from the misshapen denizens of the town using an all-new enhanced combat system that provides a wide array of attacks and counters. Along the way, Alex will encounter a variety of weapons to battle these horrific monsters and must also solve deadly puzzles as he uncovers the darkest secrets of Silent Hill", says Konami.
