And you have missed something if you havent played any game in this series before.

QFMFT!!

Silent Hill 2 (along with HL1) is my favorite game of all time. I have never played a game with a more personal and emotional story.

Akira Yamaoka.... :)

^^ Awesome! Find and buy Silent Hill 2 & 3 next. If you like them, get 4... it did piss a lot of fans off but it's still an awesome game IMO.

Apparently Silent Hill 2 and 3 were major hits and are totally sold out on PA. So bad luck there :catfight:

However, if any noble soul has an NTSC U/C PS2 version to spare for a few days, I will be happy to bear the courier charges to and fro :P

^ You, my friend, have stepped into a world of awesomeness. :ranting:

And Resident Evil: Essentials? An excellent choice.

:)

However, I played a bit of all three games and didnt like the control scheme of Outbreak at all. It sucks big time....even more than the limited 4-directional controls of Code Veronica.

you haven't played shadow of the colossus then :P

^^ I haven't but it's on my must-buy/must-play list.

Regardless SH2's story and the ending really moved me. That and Akira Yamaoka's BRILLIANT score. Check out this amazing trailer...

Well then I suggest you drop your idea of getting into survival horror. Silent Hill 1, RE 1, 2, 3 and CVX all have the same control schemes. It is the claustrophobic atmosphere and the 'control scheme' that is signature to some of the best games out there.

Code Veronica is one of the best and the most under-rated games in the series.

Actually the controls are not bad. Its just that since I started playing games directly on current gen consoles after a looooooooong hibernation period, before which I had played only Mario, its controls were like a big cultural shock to me. I skipped the evolution :P

No dude, they are different. The 3 games I have - RE4, Code veronica and Outbreak - all of them have different control schemes - at least for the PS2, donno about other versions. And i found the order of control schemes to be

RE4>Code veronica>Outbreak

They are not different. The control schemes are the same in all three titles you mentioned. It's still the 'up' button to go forward, and the 'left-right' buttons to turn.

You feel that they are different because of the evolution of the camera angles.

I am talking about the PS2 as well.
