NeoeN
^^ Some questions for you :- (Jesus i cant believe im actually troubleshooting these issues now ... sigh +1 for E-TS) 1) Comp + LCD (Is this the same LCD that u use to connect the PS3?) 2) What's the rating of the UPS? And is the UPS connected to both the LCD + PS3? 3) If possible could you get me the model numbers of the UPS? What im guessing is either the VA for the UPS is inadequate for both the LCD + PS3 ... here's what im guessing, when an E Item starts up, it requires more power than what is written, initial starts draw about 40% (dont hold me by this number, it could be BS) more than what is specified... E Items such as Electric Pumps , Fridges , Air Cons and the likes, im not sure if a PS3 / LCD would fall under this clause. I Have heard of these things happening, and if im not mistaken, APC had this issue as well, since they are sensitive to the battery that is connected to the UPS. But im curious aswell to find out aswell.

quasi
I sort of disagree with non-sinewave UPS funda that it will bad for PS3. 1. Every electronic circuit requires dc current source not ac source. 2. There will be rectiifier circuit to convert AC to DC source for PS3 inbuilt hence all the non-sine wave will be purged to become dc. Pardon me for using such words. I am a electronics engineer working in analog domain so can comment on this topic. Pure sine wave: This is a pure sine way as it says, it is a constant slope on a graph, if you know what I mean, it is a constant change, there are no edges/steps in the wave. Stepped sine wave: A stepped sine way is not a pure sine wave but it is incremented in smaller steps, instant of a constant slope it has edges in the graph. Simulated Sine Wave: Here we use Squares or Trapeziums to Simulate a sine wave. The following are from Google hope they help you all understand. As said by Infected on TE. vinitwins
^ the only question is whether the ps3's power supply can handle an alternating current with a stepped sine wave pattern. short answer: it can. V
vebk
I use a APC UPS (BE500Y-IN) - I only have my ps3 on the battery backup, and run my LCD through the surge protection socket (i.e. no battery backup but protection from spikes). It was a gift, and I was thankful enough to not have to do any research on this topic (usually every purchase of mine has a minimum 2-3 month research period before ). It works fine, but doesn't last very long. Enough time to shut down the ps3 for sure. (But since the LCD goes off, I have memorized the button presses to shut it down!). Will give it a try. (btw the LCD is a 24" Dell Monitor - S2409W).
