How to secure your wifi connection

Nice article. Here's some more stuff.

1) The post mentions admin / admin. That's the most common across Dlink, Linksys etc. Netgear uses admin / password. Here's a link to the common uid / pwds in case someone wants to go into their router. You should for what I am going to propose next.

2) Get out from the default 192.168.1.1 stuff. That's the most common url on networks. Use something like 10.0.1.x or 25.0.1.x. It will do nothing to your browsing ability. To change the IP go to router's admin section, search around for the LAN section, search around for 3 text boxes in a row which read 192.168.1 and change them.

3) If you only have a limited number of systems on the router then turn off DHCP. Combined with the above step it's hard to get on that network.

4) Even if you don't use the wifi too much, secure it. When the router is the wifi transmits - simple as that. If you are not using wifi, switch off the wifi router and use the regular phone modem. It's the same.

5) After doing steps 1-3 change the router pwd. REMEMBER all these passwords and IPs.

AFAIK no matter how hard u try u r IP address is not secured be it wired or wirless connection..........u see the GI admins come to know abt our IP address each time we log in..........and in present scenario GI admins are bigger terrorist then osama bin laden as confirmed by shivraj patil( those who disagree refer to GI MEET 4).

SO there is no point in all the safety measures, GI admins are gonna Pawn u anyways :P

Erm, but can GI admins use your IP Address/WiFi network to send a threat email to someone? Noes.
