Don't know who even beta tested or if they decided to ignore all the feedback or QA didn't even bother to test.

 

The gameplay was pretty nice and the portal is a blast to play but everything else is not even ready. Don't know why the portal has a server browser while main 2042 has no browser and only 2 modes...

 

Portal is pretty much the selling point of the game at the moment and that is just a bunch of previous BF games. The new maps are okay. Half good half too big and filled with little asset and gunfight. 

 

The game is still a few patches away from the final release. Typical of BF launch but also pathetic to see how many times they going to keep pulling this same shite. Why even remove the essential and try to derp around with stuff nobody asked for... 3 years 4 studios have no excuse to release like this.

This could've been the best Battlefield to date. They f**ked up and missed out on a huge opportunity. Now the wait for the patches begins.

And discounts . . BFV was 30-40% off within 3 weeks of launch iirc :D

And I wouldn't be surprised if this happens, the game is planned to be a long term service with Battle Passes, cosmetics etc., they'll need players.

Early release on GP is a real possibility now as well.

People keep buying , then they aint gonna change.

BATTLEFIELD 2042 UPDATE #1

 

In the coming weeks, we’ll have more to share around further upcoming fixes, balance changes, and QoL enhancements. Over the next 30 days, we’re presently scheduled to release two further updates, with our next update delivering more fixes and improvements that we’ve identified during this first week of Early Access, and a larger and more substantial update following after that.

 

Update 0.2.1

  • Fixes, Changes, and Improvements
  • Implemented Server Side upgrades that are targeted at reducing instances of Rubber Banding, often experienced in the later part of a round in All-Out Warfare modes.
  • Significantly reduced instances of stuttering when playing on Breakaway. If the Silo’s are destroyed, it should no longer reduce performance on the server.
  • A note that we are continuing to investigate similar occurrences that have been reported to us on other maps.
  • When looking at allies on your team, their names will now correctly display.
  • Adjusted the animations for Falck during the End of Round sequence to ensure that she is displayed correctly.
  • Updated a skin earnable for Boris via Mastery Progression with a new name: Gator.
  • Ensured that TDM Rounds in Battlefield Portal always start with Random Deploy set as active. We observed that this sometimes wasn’t active when moving from round to round, but have now fixed this.
  • Applied a set of measures that ensure the correct number of AI spawn in Custom Battlefield Portal modes using the Free for All preset.
  • PC Only - Enabled Specialist Selection in Hazard Zone via mouse interaction, removing the need to lock in your selection with the Spacebar.
  • Fixed a rare occurrence in Hazard Zone that would sometimes cause the End of Round flow to not activate correctly, ensuring that the correct amount of bonus XP was awarded.
  • Repaired an issue found in Hazard Zone that could cause players to be shown on the Map when they were not visible, or spotted.
  • Provided a fix for Hazard Zone players who were not seeing their Extraction Streaks updating correctly.

Core Features

 

No single-player story/campaign mode

No standard server browser

Fewer standardized game modes (Can't even play TDM or smaller scale modes without relying on community servers. Really?)

Fewer base game maps than any other title (even including portal the map count is only 13)

No persistent lobbies (seriously why do I have to matchmake after EVERY round?)

Fewer in-game assignments (none outside of cosmetic unlocks)

No class system

Less character customization options (than BF5)

No profile progress/stats page in the menu

No battle log/stats tracker for other players

No global leader boards

No end of round assignment progress screen

No dog tags (they still sort of exist I guess?)

No custom emblems

Fewer achievements

No medals

Less destruction (only a small handful of destructible buildings on each map)

No map altering levolution (There sort of is but the maps are so big, anything that changes doesn't really affect how you play)

No cross-game profile screen (BF 4, HL, 1, and V were all linked by a menu if you owned them digitally, was a neat feature.)

No spectator mode

No permanent community servers (would be useful for clans and events)

No test range (this one is sort of compensated for with single payer servers vs bots)

 

Infantry Gameplay

 

Fewer guns (even including all the portal guns, BF4 still had more at launch)

Fewer infantry gadgets

No manual leaning

No diving while swimming

No high wall vaulting

No crouch sprinting

No backwards prone

No explosion knockback

No rolling after falling from heights

No ammo or health pickup off teammates

No scope zeroing

No thermal optics

No indirect fire gadgets

Less anti-tank launchers (Come on man only one?)

No lock-on launchers (The M5 works with the SOFLAM but that requires 2 people)

No AP mines/claymores

No static weapon emplacements

No fortification building

No static resupply stations

No suppression mechanic (This one I don't mind but I'm including everything)

No first person takedown animations (whether this is a downgrade is up for debate, but I think it is)

Vehicles

Fewer vehicle types (and separate vehicle progression per faction even though they are functionally identical... why???)

No naval vehicles (Except I guess the hovercraft technically)

No small transports (i.e. ATVs, motorcycles)

No vehicle gunner direction indicator

No lock on direction indicator

No vehicle enter/exit animations

No tank turret decoupling (This was so great in BF4!)

Less vehicle driver/pilot customization options

No tank zoom customization options

No tank gunner customization options

No heli gunner secondary weapons

No separate heli/fixed-wing controls

No control input while looking behind/free looking in aircraft (BF1 and V pilots, this one is gonna absolutely suck for you guys)

No joystick/non-generic gamepad support

Scoring System

No squad wipe scoring

No player damage points

No vehicle damage points

No vehicle kill assist points

No headshot bonus

No long-range kill bonus

No assist counts as kill bonus

No multi-kill bonus

No killstreak stopped bonus

Oversimplified teamplay scoring (i.e. healing a teammate always gives you a flat +5xp rather than being based on how much you heal them)

Squad and Teamwork

No commander

No special squad call-in abilities

No squad field upgrades

No in-game VOIP (coming soon[SUP]TM[/SUP])

Fewer factions (with almost nothing to give the 2 factions any distinction)

No cross-team chat

No "create new squad" option

No clans/platoons

No view of squadmates while in the spawn screen

No "Medic incoming" indicator in downed state (coming soon[SUP]TM[/SUP])

No rank names/icons, just a number.

UI and Quality of Life

Less control customization options

Less UI customization options

No HUD/icon opacity customization

No HUD scaling customization options

No gunsight reticle customization options

No network performance graph

No individual player scoreboard

Less detail in the 'who killed you' screen

Less ultrawide monitor support (hud ratio is locked in at 16:9)

Very poor friend joining system (Lack of server browser makes playing with more than 4 friends completely impossible)

Poor console aim assist (big fat f*** you to console players there, dice. Hopefully this will come with the D1 patch)

No in game crossplay toggle option (you have to change your global console settings)

 

Audio

 

General consensus seems to be the audio design is bad, especially compared to both BF3 and BF1.

3D soundscape is almost non-exsistent

Less impactful soundtrack (menu music is very dull and repetitive)

End of round music is dull and uninteresting (compared to BF1 and V this is a big downgrade)

End of round voicelines are just awful. I can't describe how much I hate them. (Tried to keep the rest of the list objective, but I had to add this. You guys understand)

A lot of nitpicking in that list but this is not DICE's first game. So fair list and unacceptable launch. 

 

The gameplay is pretty good otherwise. Give it 3-6 months and we might have a good BF game but after all this hype and years of waiting and always running into the same bad launch -> fix with updates is getting stale. If F2P games can do it without such issues, there is no excuse for Battlefield.

They should have delayed it for another year. 
Or maybe launch now & fix in enjoyable form within 4 months. 

 

I can’t really say which poison is better.

The Giant Publishers should all quit their Fascination with the Holiday launch probably. 
Sony has been doing quite good without it for so long. 

 

In their hunger to launch just in time for holidays,they always screw up. 
 

Be it launching a broken game or delaying it for full 1 year instead.
