arjun
im upgrading my computer as in moving in to my new place in a bit so watever i want i have to buy in the next 2 weeks.... but im confused .... as i want a blueray and hd-dvd player.... so should i buy a pc with an inbuilt hd-dvd player or blueray player?? i have the xbox 360 so i could buy the addon hd-dvd package.... but on the other hand i mite buy the ps3 .... so then putting a blueray disc drive in pc is a waste.... so i need some help in deciding wat to buy .... im lookin for the cheapest solution tht would give me the better of both worlds hd-dvd and blueray.... cuz then wen i think bout buying the ps3 i find it a waste as i anyways dont do justice to the consoles i already own... iv already bought my full hd tv .... and my hts .... so all i need it to finalize this.... Help!! :censored3:
MarketTantrik
Get a Samsung HD-DVD / Blu Ray combo drive for your PC. It should cost about Rs. 30,000/-. But it will be capable of even writing hi-def discs altho the blank Blu Ray discs are pretty expensive at the moment. But the convenience of having it on your PC should not be understated. The HD-DVD addon drive for the Xbox 360 is also a very good deal, especially with the current offer going on at Amazon.com. (you get 8 free HD-DVD movies, including "300". That movie alone makes it worthwhile ). If I were you, I'd get the combo drive for my PC and the addon drive for the 360.
arjun
^^ 30k is a bit steep dont u think?? anyways as ur saying this combo drive plays both hd-dvd/blueray and evn writes both medias rite?? so then why should i get the xbox 360 addon?? isnt it smarter to jus stick to this drive and just run a cable thru to my hdtv ?? + i dont wanna spend more than 70k on my pc.... this drive will make me alter my dream config of 4gb ram and all to 2gb etc.... reaper
if i were u bud..... i would buy a 360 hddvd player and buy a ps3..... obvious choice ..... cheap and best....
MarketTantrik
Yeah, if your PC is close enough to your HT setup, then thats a good choice. As for the price, thats how expensive next-gen tech is in its early iterations. Which is why even the PS3 is so expensive. If you are looking for a cheaper way out, get the HD-DVD addon drive for the X360. Great value for money !!
arjun
@ reaper - i agree too .... but dude i anyways am feeling guilty of not using the consoles i already own.... this will just add to tht.... :S
MarketTantrik
Exactly. Go for the X360 addon drive now and pick up the PS3 when the exclusive games you really want to play on it are released * ahem * MGS4 * ahem *

MarketTantrik
The 360 has a lot of life yet left in it. There are a slew of top notch exclusives slated for the coming months and the next year. BTW, the Xbox 360 HD-DVD Addon can be used with your PC too, provided you run Windows. (Forgot about that)

MarketTantrik
You can copy a BluRay rip to an HD-DVD provided its converted into a neutral format such as WMV-HD or Divx-HD. And with blank HD-DVDs and Blu Ray discs costing nearly a 1000 bucks each, you are better off buying the original.
arjun
or downloading the rips
