Started playing this game. Played it around 6-7hours so far. Loving it. The story build up is very interesting. And same city as Yakuza 7.  Skateboarding around city is so fun. Combat for me is basically button smashing but different fight style keeps the game engaging.  Combat is also very fluid and feels good. Could have never thought of stealth mode in yakuza kind of game but there it is but although it’s very linear only specific to limited mission.  The game gives persona vibes when you are in the school only difference replace cartoonish graphics with this.

I really really wanna play this game, but I’m waiting for the Goty edition which will contain the extra school stories and the kaito chapters

Ultimate Edition is the GOTY version, that contains all the DLCs. It's on sale ATM for Rs 3599 (40% off). I don't think they are going to release another "GOTY Edition", especially when this game has no other DLC than the one already included in the Ultimate Edition and it was not even nominated to 1 award.

Still too expensive for me @3599, will wait for a good discount

@roun90 is there anyway to farm money in this game? I looked up YouTube videos all they do is just run around the city and collect materials then sell it off. And there seem to be specific location find rare materials which can give you 200k yen per 4mins. This is fastest method so far I could see.

Wanted to ask if this has any mini games like yakuza 7 to farm money or I just have to do it the above way only?

Yeah , you will definitely like the story setup if you are already in yakuza games. As every yakuza game there are some great dialogue writing and soundtracks. Some the side missions are way too funny.  ?

From what I remember (Been a while since I finished the game) - Paradise VR is the best way to get money. Playing Paradise VR even once gives a ridiculous amount of money. You just have to play the sub-story that starts Paradise VR. 1 game is free. If you want to play again, it will cost tickets - which you can earn from finding while in free roam. You can even play other activities like skateboarding, casino etc., and excange for 1 permanent pass there. You collect 6 Permanent Passes, you can play Paradise VR for free indefinitely.

If you know how to play Blackjack or Koi-Koi, that is also pretty much a source of infinite money. You can just save-scum over there. Exchange the points for Platinum Plates, and you can easily rake in the moolah.

You don't really need that much money in this game though. You might need some money for 1-2 costumes for the Dance Club School Story, but other than that money is not that important here. You easily get enough money to buy items. Sub-Stories also give respectable amount of money. It's not like Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon where money was paramount.

I finished this game last week, been doing the school club missions after finishing the main story. I’m 50 hours in and still have like 4-5 clubs that I need to finish along with like 15 side cases still remaining.

I have to be honest, this game feels like a spiritual successor to Yakuza 5. There’s so much content in the side activities and side cases that it’s absurd. Combat has improved from the first game and it’s very meaty now, even the Crane style feels worth it in Lost Judgment. The skateboard is a really nice way to travel since Ijincho is a big a*s city.

However, I felt like the story was the weak point of the game. I think there were too many characters and they ultimately didn’t do justice to either the returning characters from the first game or some of the new additions didn’t get a fleshed out character.

I really liked Yakuza 5 and I’m also enjoying Lost Judgement but I wish the story was as good as Like a dragon, would have made this game probably the best since Yakuza 0.

The main story was very difficult to pull off this time though. It was the story of a problem that is very much present in real life, and is not solved till today. What do you do exactly -

Spoiler

About the bullying?

It's very much an existing problem. People in the real world have committed suicides due to it.

Do you agree with the authorities? Many times the authorities and school staff ignore bullying because it puts their institution in a very bad light. They don't want to deal with the hassle of a bad name.

Do you agree with Kuwana? You are either directly responsible or an accessory in the murder of bullies - who are young kids

Do you agree with Yagami? It's a good solution, what he did. But it takes a lot of time and a lot of people are going to be affected before any meaningful change is made (It will mostly take generations to spread awareness, if it spreads at all. But this is the only way to truely stop bullying.

There literally was no way to end the story properly, because if RGG Studios could make a satisfactory end - they have discovered a solution to real world bullying. It's why they had to shoehorn that Sawa plot. Because if Sawa was not killed, Yagami has no justification at all to blame Kuwana. He has no answer other than mumbling about Sawa again and again.

School Stories is awesome though. I urge you to complete it. It's a far better story than the main story. It's bonkers fun. if you want to play like Great teacher Onizuka - this is your chance.

Completed the game. The story setup is completely relatable for daily life scenario. The way they presented it was good. Combat is so much fun in this game once you learn to dodge and parry.

Did you finish the School Stories?

School Stories >>> Main Story in this game

Yeah, I did school stories but didn't complete it fully. My side missions are mostly locked has green chat bubble. I dont know how do I trigger it? Does that require something to be unlocked? And also is school stories DLC is worth? I saw we get a new fight style with that. Thinking of getting that DLC.

Same question. DLC is worth it ? Locking a fighting style behind DLC is not cool.

School Stories DLC is for if you are having trouble with the School Stories mini-games. They give some stuff that will make those games easy, like an over-powered robot for the robotics club, an OP bike for the bike race etc. It's not needed per-se. As far as the fighting style is concerned, it was developed later as a DLC. They took the Boxing Club, and re-imagined the moves for fighting on the streets. It's not needed, and each og it's upgrades is expensive. AFAIK there is not even any TownGo achievements/completion associated with that fighting style.

Again, the School Stories DLC is not needed, unless you are having trouble with the mini-games. It's perfectly possible to complete the side-games of School Stories without that DLC.

The Kaito Files is the only DLC that will be necessary, because that will add additional story. But that is not coming till (afaik) mid of this year at least. So you can wait to buy that.

As far as unlocking further stories go - generally they were only locked by your progression in the main game, and progression in other clubs. Can you tell me which clubs you are stuck on? I might be able to help.

Spring 2022 AFAIK. It's a separate DLC, and a part of the Ultimate Edition (If you purchased that). From Gameinformer, it's going to add 10 hours of new story content.

@roun90 is judgement 1 dlc any good?

I played Judgment on the PS5 and loved it. Brilliant story. The DLC doesn't add any story only cosmetics and some fillers. Not worth it imo.

Not really. It's simply items (That will make mini-games easier + extracts that will make you OP). Lost Judgement DLC is better than OG Judgement, simply because you get an extra combat style (Boxing) + future story (which OG does not have). That said, if you like cosplaying/dressing up Saori and/or other GFs and roaming around the town with her - then go for it.
