abhi90
Some weapons have slashing, cutting, bashing, <oneother> or no type of damage(like catalysts and miracles) One type of damage ifs more effective against some whereas less against some others, for example slashing works well on skins but does not have that much of an impact against armor. Uchigatan has both slashing and cutting, and is an awesome weapon however is a bit heavy and not so reliable, the flachion though is a curved sword and islight, regenerates mana but is less lethal than a uchigata. Apart from it, there are some damagw modifiers like in crescent falchion there is a B/C below magic in stats so the higher your magic will be,the higher it will be. Refer to the +xx stat next to your primary damage.
lithuvien
A question Does this game even have a story? have been playing for more than 10 hours and so far, all that has been told to me is that "Demon .. there .. you sing it lullaby" Nothing more. Didn't you see the Intro? The kingdom of Boletaria has been invaded by a fog, which has demons who in turn feed on mortal souls. You need to kill all the demons to free the kingdom! Params7
Demon's Souls has a world with a very deep lore (storyline), but its just not spoonfed in cutscenes like traditional games. Talk to NPC's to get started.
abhi90
Demon's Souls has a world with a very deep lore (storyline), but its just not spoonfed in cutscenes like traditional games. Talk to NPC's to get started. more like real life, talk to all and get the fix. Plus each world has a different story but story is not one of demon's souls strong points. edit: youcan get uchigatana from dual katana wielding ninjas Edited July 7, 2010 by abhinit90
Bulovski
It's got an ok story - the characters are amazing though. You only get glimpses into their life and have to figure out the rest - and it's very easy to miss out a bunch of stuff. For example no one is going to talk to Satsuki or Miranda much when they are hell bent on smashing you to smithereens.
lithuvien
Maybe its still early in the game for people to tell me much I was expecting something like Oblivion, where it was easier to proceed with the story
praveer
Oblivion didn't had a story. Edited July 7, 2010 by praveer

It mirrors Myst in the storytelling department - as a player you may or may not find out what's going on. The world or the other characters don't care much what you are upto. lithuvien
Bosses are turning out to be quite easy. I cleared 1-1, 1-2, red dragon and the fatass mini-boss in 4-1. Tip: for new players Buy lots of arrows and shoot any bugger who moves slower than you
Bulovski
Much respect on finding bosses easy. Any ranged weapon is indispensable in the game. Some of them take time - like doing 8 damage at a time on a hulking dragon.

Bulovski
Where are you getting whipped? Did you manage to take care of the first few guys and climb the steps to the large gate?

I keep gettign my a*s whipped in either of these locations.. And wth is it with me blocking damange and still getting my hp depleted
lithuvien
The game is incredibly difficult, so I dont think people suck. It took me like 4 hours just to get the hang of it. Get hold of a spear type weapon so you can go stab-stab without having to worry about people hitting you easily. Thats why the temple Knight class was such a help for me. Also, if you can tell me where specifically you are finding the game unpassable, I may be able to help you. After all, I did spent a lot of time shouting "mada***"" and banging my head on the table Edit: Tip for firebombers. When you see them swing their hands back, press "O" to step back. This way, their bombs should land short. Then immediately run towards them and chop them up. Edited July 7, 2010 by lithuvien
