Demon's Souls

Oh man I done f**ked up. For the longest time I kept on going to that red eyed spear guy to the right of the top of the Boletarian Palace. I wasted at least 3-4 hours like this and lost at least 5k souls. That basted just can't be defeated.

Then even more stupidly I went to the place where the Dragons lay with one of them with tail swinging and died under his smash. That's not a fight, that's just idiotic. Serves me right for thinking I could go without any hints/tips. FUK.

So now, what do I do? Can I get those souls back? Is it possible? Or should I just let them be and move on to finishing this nexus and actually start the f**king game.

Grrr..I am soo so so mad right now.

Calm down achilles. If it's your first attempt, I suggest moving away from fighting the Red Eyed Knight. You can clear the level without defeating him. Same goes for the place where the Dragons are located. That area is not meant to be visited, yet. Explore the rest of the place and defeat the first boss. Once this is done, the rest of the 5 stages will unlock in the Nexus and you can move to any one of them. In order to get back the souls you lost, you need to visit the place where you died and touch your bloodstain. If you die before reaching that place, it's gone forever. I know it sucks, but believe me, the more you get used to it, the easier it becomes. I lost 22k hard earned souls to that b*tch boss; Flamelurker. I almost rage-quit at that point. Now I'll only approach him, once I'm completely prepared. So keep pressing forward and good luck.

you don't have to defeat him, and if still want to desprately kill him, make him fall from the stairs to his death.

Oh I'm calm now :P

I know everything you said. All I want to know now is is it possible for me to visit that area with two dragons without dying by his swinging tail to get back my souls?

Anyway, a hint would have been helpful you know, "you are not f**king meant to go here yet you puny little punk", something. Anything.

Yeah, I realized after dying 6 times to his shitty a*s. Man I almost broke my controller yest. And that hasn't happened since the PS2 days. :P

Anyway I'll kill him when I'm proper ready.

Also, another question guys. After my death, I quit the game. So when I start again will my old bloodstain still be there? It's really weird you can't pause in the game. I mean what if I have to pee or something..

Yeah the game saves automatically everytime you quit, change inventory or after certain events/time. So whatever you lost will still be there.

If possible try to play the game while connected to the net. You will see hints and messages about places you are supposed to go and avoid on the floor. I avoided the red knight and the dragons simply because the messages told me to avoid them.

Edit The no pause thing is bullshit. Wait till it comes into play when you are fighting a boss battle and have to answer the doorbell. You will love the mechanic then.

Yeah, I want to but my room gets weak wi-fi and the triple does;t connect. Works on my laptop and phone but not on this. Maybe I'll switch to the living room for this game. It has a better couch anyway. And a better TV too :P

If both the Dragons are present in that area and if your souls patch in left in between, then it's going to be next to impossible to grab it and make a run for it. Both their attacks are extremely lethal. Trust me, I died multiple times just trying to obtain the items of those dead soliders in that region. Forget those souls and move on. You can farm this area like crazy, once your stats are up.

Anyway, a hint would have been helpful you know, "you are not f**king meant to go here yet you puny little punk", something. Anything.

Well, it doesn't hand-hold you to that extent. Like Aftrunner said, your best bet is those messages left by the online players. At best, they could serve as a "warning sign", but won't provide a detail description. It's all about experimenting. If you're dying too much, then either you're trying to blaze through the fight or you're not properly equipped to deal with that situation.

Also, another question guys. After my death, I quit the game. So when I start again will my old bloodstain still be there? It's really weird you can't pause in the game.

If you died & quit and the game auto-saved immediately after that, then yes, the patch will be there.

I mean what if I have to pee or something..

Hold it in or find a safe place to park your character and then answer the nature call. :P

Teach your brother/sister or anyone for that matter in your house to play the game when you have to succumb to the urgent matters.

awesome idea, my house maid can own The Old One without getting a single hit like a boss B)

Haha. I got the souls back. The stain was just down the stairs far out of reach of that stupid tail demon. Completed the level, the slimy boss was a piece of cake. Now I need a 1000 more souls to learn my first spell of healing, or was it miracle?

Anyway, just to make sure, if I park my character where there are no enemies, no new ones would come along, or should I just tape the L1 button when I have to pause to eat, cook or answer ..er..calls? :D

Another thing, should I just move on to any stone now and experiment like Ethan says or would some order be beneficial? Also I haven't got the 1-1, 2-1 etc. you guys talk about.

1-1, 1-2 is simply code for Stone followed by the stage of that stone. So 1-2 is level 1 (which you just beat) and second stage of that level (which starts off where you killed your first boss). Kinda like Mario. :P

The order you do them in is largely open to experimentation. But generally X-1 is always easier than X-2. For example 1-2 is tougher than 2-1 if that makes any sense. There is no set order though, so try your luck. Just be prepared, difficulty curve goes up from this point on. Be prepared do die a lot and hopefully you have found the Cling Ring. That thing will be your best friend for the rest of the game.

And yeah, if you need to take a break, you can just leave your character where there are no enemies around. Enemies have an attack radius and wont bother you if you are out of that radius.

Oh and last piece of advice, hold off upgrading your weapon until you are sure which weapon you wanna roll with or which weapon suits your playstyle. And for a first time player, the demons souls wiki is invaluable. http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/

Watch for spoilers in there though. :P

Yeah, but which is 1 of 1-2, how do you decide that? Also, does it mean I just beat 1-1?

Yeah, I have found the Cling Ring, the one which increases your health in spirit mode, right?

Haha. Nice. Good I'm in Mumbai right now and the power won't go off.

Dang, I just upgraded the long sword. I didn't go there for fear of spoilers only. Don't want to ruin any shock/fear factor the game might offer. I even have the damn strategy guide but reading feels so archaic now it's not even worth the space the guide occupies. I tried to wolf through but tossed it aside in all of 3 seconds :P

So, I'm going to 2-1 now. Whatever that might be. Also PSN maintenance for around 12 hours so no online and that means no help messages too. Dang.

The very first arch-stone in the Nexus. Once you defeat the first boss, the next section of the area is unlocked. Where it used to have only Boletarian Palace, it will now have Phalanx Archstone, that's 1-2. And yes, that does mean that you beat 1-1, congrats! :)

Anyway, just to make sure, if I park my character where there are no enemies, no new ones would come along, or should I just tape the L1 button when I have to pause to eat, cook or answer ..er..calls?

Yes. Just make sure you aren't being followed by any remaining enemies and you can just move off screen.

Don't purchase Heal just yet, or any miracle for that matter. Focus on leveling your character up. Spend some points on Vitality, Magic, Endurance and Strength. Most of the weapons/shields in the latter part of the game have a minimum strength requirement, without which, they won't function effectively. Once you're strong enough, the Red Eyed Knight will be a piece of cake and you can earn 2k souls just by killing him.

Very important that you equip it. Since you have beat the first boss, you must have returned to your body/human form, so no need to equip it now. Once you hit soul form, this should be equipped at all times.

The Wikidot page is highly useful and has immense amount of resources. I use it mainly to track my inventory items usage and related upgrades.

You can start and end 1-2 and then move onto 2-1. It's pretty easy. Just watch out for that Dragon who keeps spewing fire along the bridge. The boss fight isn't that difficult either.

What class have you picked?

and a question to the rest of you guys; What impact will the servers take down have on the game? Will we not be able to see those "hint/tips" message left by other players? or just the online game modes like PvP and stuff cease to exist?

Yup, no messages/hints, no PVP, no black phantom invasions and no blue phantom too, and most importantly no one to trade stuff with, people who are looking to platinum the game should definitely get it before the servers are taken down else it's a hellish tough, I know of some people who got trophies by trading the various weapons required in the platinum trophy for the game.

It was to be down by now but it was extended for some time, and it's the third time that they've extended it.

An udti chidiya says the servers are online till 31st may 2012.
