If the excuse is daughters bday or too much cricket then let him skip the entire tour and not just odi. :loser:

Yes, we should rightly decide what he should play and not because he doesn't have the aptitude to decide how to maintain his personal and professional life.

Btw I didn't hear the same thing from anyone here when Rohit just recently skipped NZ tests.

Rohit skipped series for genuine reason, not that he didn't want to play under Kohli.

But Kohli being total turd throws BCCI into tailspin by opting out of ODI.

BTW, why are we even touring SA, the epicenter of Omicron?

So was Rohit a complete turd skipping the test matches against NZ too?

Did Kohli took retirement from ODI's and T20's or he himself said he will never ever play under Rohit?

When it's clearly mentioned Kohli has informed BCCI in advance he won't be playing ODI's due to spending time with family then why do fans always have to create unnecessary controversies. It's not like we don't have proper backups now.

When he was winning bilaterals after bilaterals fans were saying they are meaningless and now when he is skipping a bilateral series suddenly bilateral are the most important thing in Indian cricket ?

We shouldn't but BCCI should decide who plays what and who get to rest & Rohit was rested for the NZ series by the BCCI for the test along with a bunch of other players.

Also Let's not forget virat did the same earlier too. After the 2019 wc when our team was to travel abroad virat dropped himself & then the news of Rohit as permanent limited overs started gaining traction and suddenly virat comes back to play the whole series.

The funny part is that his daughters birthday is on 11 and last test ends on 15, he should have skipped last test too and been with her on her day, and not after that, because then it does not matter if it is 6 days late or 15 days late.

he is just being an a*s now.

Well, we never know what goes on behind BCCI and their players drama. I don't care about ODI except for world cup anymore. So to me doesn't matter whoever plays it. But in all this drama we shouldn't f**k up the Test series in SA. This is out best chance of winning it. Shouldn't screw it over bcci and players drama. Already with Rohit out opening is in trouble, don't have so much confidence in Mayank outside India.

Absolute shitshow.

These guys should never be compared to Sachin, Dravid, Kumle & others.
Just despicable behavior.

I remember Sachin coming back to play for India in 1999 WC a day after his father expired. Such differing times .

Sachin lost captaincy.
He gotto know he got fired through press, BCCI dint even inform him.

He still went on to play under other captains. After the match fixing scandal, he still took over the captaincy for a short term, till Ganguly was named captain.

Even Kumble used to get dropped for a lot of matches. Still would give his all. Never cried about it. Even when he resigned as coach, he resigned respectfully, dint create any drama or blame anyone.

Now BCCI official states they haven't received any formal request from Kohli to be rested for ODI's.? As per bcci he is playing them unless he makes a formal request to Ganguly or Jay shah. So, it's just various clickbait sites running their own stories for now.

This is such a sh*t show cos BCCI is run by inept buffoons who can't even release proper statements clearing stuff out.

He made 144 in that game. He came back cos it was a world cup game and India needed him. The whole country was mourning the loss of his father with him. I still remember he was so intense entire innings and after the match during presentation he broke down for few moments.

Sachin was on a completely different level as a player and ambassador of cricket. These so called superstars today can never touch his passion for the game. Except for injury he never missed an India game for birthdays or holidays or whatever.

Anyways, if Rohit or kohli misses doesn't matter. Too many talented youngster are in line. Gaikwad just hit his 4th century in 5 matches in Vijay hazare. Play him at 3 if needed. Play Shaw if Rohit also can't make it in ODIs.

Agreed. Just look at the nonsense interviews shahstri is giving after being removed as coach. Kumble despite the backing of the administration was removed by virat and co and yet he never made any statements against the team or even virat. Kumble used to get dropped pretty much everywhere overseas when Ganguly was the captain and that famous innings in Pakistan when Dravid declared when Sachin was in his 190's. Heck even sehwag and dhoni had problems but All sorted out their differences & it never came out in public. Truly our golden generation.

Wouldn't surprise me if one of the conditions for Rahul Dravid taking up the head coach was the sacking of kohli or reducing his powers. After all kohli had sort of sacked Dravid, Zaheer and one more guy after kumble left and replaced them with shshtri and his team.

Tbh even a young virat played on the day of his father's funeral. Siraj stayed back in Australia despite his father succumbing during the tour. But where Sachin differed from others is that he played his last game with the same passion that he did in his debut.

Family > work and using that extreme level of workaholism as an ideal is toxic af.

It's just capitalist bs.

Wtf

For some sportsmen representing their country, it is not about being workaholic or putting 'company/corporate' over yourself or family. Its passion what drives them. At least that is what was there in Sachin's case  Again, NO ONE forced him to come back. It would have been toxic if BCCI forced him to do that. He came back because we(India) needed him in the world cup. There is absolutely nothing capitalistic about this. If anything, this is something a communist/socialist regime would force someone to do  If i was representing India in a sport i love, i won't consider it as 'work' but something which I absolutely love doing. Again, no one is saying that a person not doing the same as Sachin did is wrong, but to call it toxic is hilarious

I don't believe concept of "national duty" in Cricket.

Players are not soldiers, they should get timeoffs like every civilian out there. But this current clusterfk has nothing to do with players taking timeoffs. Its players being indifferent to the team and total cunts.
