Good win, great to see Kohli his old fluent self. That said it is so sad that the game is becoming so dependent on toss, bowling second with wet ball is making life so difficult bowlers. The way India batted in second innings it felt like it was a different pitch altogether, and again if we had lost the toss, would have felt like 375 would have also not been enough.

Not sure what can be done, early starts only look possible to balance this out, as it is the game is tilted heavily towards batsman, this makes bowlers look even more pedesterian.

That 25 overs each innings sounds like a good idea. Both teams get to bat and bowl in similar conditions.

Or just start playing during normal time. Why the f**k is every single ODI Day/Night only? Surely there must be limits to greed.

Anyone watching Ashes? Was hoping it would be more competitive than this 😕

More competitive than I expected. The last 3 Ashes in Australia have been 5-0, 4-0 and 4-0 and this England team is looking worse than the one from the last two tours. This is looking like a 5-0.

Because of viewership and ticket sales. Day matches don't get as many viewers or ticket sales on weekdays.

That is why I said limits to greed. Changing match timings changes playing conditions to such a huge extent.

Every other country is playing day matches. Only BCCI, which already has all the money in the world is trying to extract every last drop of revenue.

Also how will you even compare the differences when there are no day matches taking place nowadays? At major centres, all ODIs will be houseful regardless of timing. Most people these days are streaming the matches on their phones, so viewership also has changed.

At the very least this could be done on weekends. Also I don't get the obsession with running major events and finals late on Sundays when people have to get to work next morning.

Gambhir & Agarkar are absolutely clueless

Samson was batting well in opening slot. Drops him, gets gill to open in Asia cup.
Now Gill dropped and Samson to open. ( Right call imo )

Rinku Singh played literally 1 ball in Asia cup. Gets dropped. Jitesh come in his place.
Samson gets dropped as Jitesh makes more sense to bat lower down the order.

Now time for World Cup

Gill dropped, Samson back in opening slot.
Jitesh dropped, Rinku comes in.

Kishan comes in out of nowhere as backup keeper and opener.

Team is still good. But this just shows amazing lack of clarity

I think dropping Gill for WC is a brave call because BCCI/selectors/GG/Surya marketed so much about him being VC and being part of the team before 2024 bla bla bla (personally think Gill did not deserve a spot anyways just like Pant); this decision finally tell me that selectors at least admitted their mistake and corrected it in time for WC. GG is either inline with this or was forced to agree to this. Finally there is going to be consistency at opening with Samson.

Jitesh has done everything possible however Rinku was always designated finisher and they invested in him almost last two years. Ishan Kishan selection is definitely a shocker (also knowing that he has had disciplinary issues).

TBH the team they selected is right. Gill shouldn't be in the t20 team.
Just feel the management and selectors are not in same page.
There was no need of Jitesh playing these matches. They should have kept Rinku in the team.

Ishan Kishan is in superb form domestically. He captained Jharkhand to T20 trophy. Scored 2 100s in tournament, 1 was in final. So his return through shocking is not without merit.

Yea
It makes sense. Much deserved selection. Plus he is both backup opener and keeper.
