You can't fix a match by paying someone to win Afghanistan can hope to win vs NZ with a decent margin and then pray for India to choke. They will still have a chance, just like we had. There would be no Pity High NRR. They would already be out. What I thought would happen is happening. They lost against the 2 better teams (Only good teams in the entire group) - so Kohli and Co. are bullying the weak and temporary teams so they can come back and brag that they tried (Along with justifying their high match fees). For a team like Afg, there is always incentive to win as many games as possible, especially against bigger teams. There is a reason why minnows always celebrate one off victories against bigger teams in a grand way. Its a big thing. It boosts morale and every team would want to go out on a high. There is a reason why despite not restricting England to 131, Africa kept at it and went on to win the match.
