Assassins Creed
For those who have MKV files and wonder how to play it on xbox 360 for better clarity.. here is the simple solution Xenon MKV http://xenonmkv.ev98.net/download/ its freely available, also download & install Dot Net 2 and Redist, else it wont work. This is a pretty straight forward software.. there is no re encode.. it first separates video and audio files.. thn remux the video to mp4 and audio to Stereo and join them. just takes 10-15 mins maxx for a 4gb file. I was playing Mkv files thru PC VGA @ 1368 X 768 on my Bravia 32' evn that looked great.. But playing on 1080p (not native) via Xbox 360 looked even better, more detailed and shiny i am just loving the clarity.. I tried playing 300 720p BR Rip which weighs abt 7.5GB.. The picture quality was amazing, I have never seen actual bluray movie but it shud be close to bluray atleast 60% on a 32' LCD .. HSP comment on it one more imp thing is you shud cut down the files at 4gb cos Pendrives having FAT32 system file cant read files more than that. wen u start encoding you ll probably get an error just goto - Tools>Options>Scratch Location The scratch location shud be blank.. just browse and give some path which has more space.. any ques let me knw, i hav converted many
Hot-Drake-Pixel
For a movie like 300, it will be difficult to point out the differences that too on a 32" TV, as the master print itself is grainy. It should be as close as 80% to actual blu-ray movie. But if we consider an animation movie or something like casino royale or planet earth, difference will be visible in naked eyes. Assassins Creed
This works like charm rahul.. ok HSP ill try out other movies like SpiderMan 3 & Die Hard 4 1080p.. But best is to compare head to head and if i dont find too much diff reconsider my decision on getting PS3 for bluray for now.. Anyways Ill buy PS3 for GOW3 wen it comes out Streaming sucks cos it can stream only WMVs and it aint tht great.. Best is to play thru Pendrive or Ext HDD but only FAT system supports on 360 i guess!?

MarketTantrik
i have external HDD fat32 file system and x360 wont read files from it. Thats strange. If its FAT32, the console should definitely read from it. What size is the HDD ?

rahul
alrite i just finished encoding a 2.Xgig Transformers mkv. dint notice time taken but it had to be around 15mins, maybe even more. i have a dual core 3ghz wid 1gig ram. at the end it gave me some mp4 error. i clicked on 'check online for solution'. after that it finished. the problem resolved itself or it was a glitch, only god and the programmer knows. Original mkv : 2.38gb Encoded mp4: 2.31gb but there's a loss in audio quality clearly noticeable. but incase you are viewing this on a home theater you wont have any problems.. video quality is nearly the same or might have degraded only a bit. dint notice any major difference. definitely recommended s/w. Assassins Creed
Ya surely there is loss in audio because it makes it to stereo from 5.1.. but since u have 2gb file i think bcos of res. you wont notice much diff. i tried 4gb and 7gb files there was much diff playing via pc vga and x360...
